Our beautiful, pleasant, charming and Happy 13 YO Golden had to be euthanized today. Son Ty was with me
and we went through a box of tissues. Wife is with a group in Cancun. Home tomorrow.

An apparent annurism created internal bleeding. Not going to improve or resolve.

Gonna see her at the "Rainbow Bridge".

Lonely here tonight....

Rimfired, you and your son are in my prayers tonight. To some, dogs, cats and other pets are just animals but to many us the term family member is a better description. I have held my friends in my arms as the vet has done the right but hard thing before and I understand the sadness in your house tonight. Cling to the memories and the thoughts of seeing her once again some day.

Sorry for your loss. Goldens are great dogs. They are not pets, they become family. You will be in my prayers.
I am going to hug my Golden Retriever Baxter.

Truly Sad

I can empathize with you. We too had to euthanize a beloved golden retriever. It's been nearly five years and I haven't quite been the same since.

Your dog look absolutely beautiful.

Speaking for myself only, it's hard for me to hit the "Like" button when reading about someone's Best Friend passing away. I hope you understand.

I know how hard it is to go from a daily, constant presence in your life, home, and heart for so many years to the complete absence of that presence in the blink of an eye, in a heartbeat. It's simply mind numbing and heartbreaking.

I'm one of those people who believe animals have souls. How could a being so loving, devoted, and faithful not have a soul?

I truly believe you and your Best Friend will see each other again some day. If I didn't believe it, I wouldn't say it.

I am sorry for your loss.

I just moved and cleaned the footprint and ash box of "Hoss". Sorry for your loss. I had to go look through the pictures of him and pheasants, partridge, grouse, ducks, etc. He caught his own fish, rode in the helicopter, took point on the bow of the boat, and raised four kinds of hell with moose and seagulls. I'm so happy he chose me to spend his life with............I hope you and your family heal quickly from losing her. She looks beautiful.

I've read where we are just a bunch of crusty old goats. Anyone who reads the numerous threads posted when we lose a 4 legged friend would know differently.
It's so hard to do the right thing. The poem the Master Chief posted says it all.

What a beautiful pup and you should take great pride in being her best friend and doing what was best for her. Its so sad when I hear this type of thing and I offer you my condolences sir!

I believe all the answers here express our feelings for our dogs long gone to their reward. My old Lab Joe has been gone since 1978 & I still miss him. Talked to my daughter last week & Joe came up in the conversation. She was 2 years old when we got Joe & became part of the family. Guess the feelings never stop.

Ruthie and I have rescued 16 cats and dogs over a 32 year span. We have 3 left. Every loss was hard to take. I know the pain you feel but I, as I'm sure you do, take comfort in knowing that every minute they had on this earth was filled with love and happiness.
I bet they are all playing together and saying what pushovers their owners were.
I am sorry for your loss.

It's heartbreaking to lose any dog. Goldens somehow become family members slightly more so than most. We're on our fourth.
