Okay- the movie is "The Mummy" (Brendon Fraser, et al)...good action movie with lots of period-correct stuff for gun enthusiasts to look at: old Colt 1873s, S&Ws, Winchester shotguns, Model 1911s, Thompsons, Lebels, Berthiers, etc. etc.

Here's the question: what two revolvers does Brendon Fraser carry in his shoulder holsters in addition to the two 1911s? I can't really tell- but they might be M1892 French (Lebel) or 1895 Nagants revolvers. I know this is not exactly a S&W question, but it's been bugging me. Any ideas?

I knew they were French revolvers but didn't know the name. they were

11.?? mm (45 cal or so)

Very cool.

If you google "french revolvers 1873" you get a bunch of hits.

revolver used at the start of Mummy 2

As a follow up, Brendan carried a S &W at the start of Mummy 2.

It looks very much like a triplelock or 3rd model H.E.

6 1/2" barrel can't tell if 44 special,or 455. If true to the era and foreign setting, could have been a 1st model (triplelock) in .455.

Nice looking gun and very clearly a Smith 6 1/2" with the ejector shroud.

Cool websites for movie guns. I checked a similar sight to find out what guns were used in "48 Hours" (Nolte/Murphy)...N-frames. I know Nolte's was a 4" Model 29, but at the beginning it looks like Gantz is using a Model 27 or Model 28. However, when they're going through one of the guys' suitcases, the one cop finds a speedloader and mentions "Hey, he uses a .44 like you Jack".
