Hello! I inherited a MP-15 (without a magazine) from a recently deceased family member. Im trying to identify the specific model (leaning towards LR or 15T given how the end of barrel doesn't have a rail around the last 5-6 inches)

Notable features:
Dust cover
Adjustable stock
SN 12475
Iron sights can be moved up and down
5.56 according to barrel

Additionally, the stock has no padding and will likely swap that out first if anyone has recommendations!

Based on your description and what is easily seen in your photos, it is a M&P 15T SKU 811001.

That was an expensive rifle when it cam out. About $1,600.

Raindropskrt, a $100.00 bill should buy you a Larue or Schmid trigger and a JP Enterprises spring set that would make a noticeable difference to your finger and the target.

I never cared for mil-spec furniture but it is perfectly adequate for most users. A person over 6’ tall or with large hands may require more stock length and a handgrip with more girth. I personally like Magpul products but have used Hogue and MFT stocks and Wilson Combat handgrips. Depending on your choices, these items could cost you $60.00 to $250.00+.

Don’t forget a sling and the attachments, which are $20.00 and way on up.

It's definitely an M&P15T. It was Smith & Wesson's higher-end "Tactical" model with a Free-Floating Troy Quad-Rail Handguard and front/rear Troy Folding Battle Sights.

Thanks Glen! Any recommendations for updated stock/trigger?

It is to my understanding that the M&P15T already has a factory tuned trigger, so unless there's something about it you distinctly don't like, I'd just leave it as is.
