I've had a great experience with this rifle, that is up until the time I took it apart and cleaned it. I followed the instructions on YouTube and everything looked good when I put it back together. But today when I took it to the range, I discovered that the breech wouldnt accept shells. It would only close if there were no shells in the magazine. There is a "pall" stopping the breech from closing. I have a video on YouTube so that you can see what's happening.

The problem is the hammer is in the down position. You can see this in your video. This usually happens if you pull the trigger while taking it apart. Whenever you start the breakdown process, put the safety on.

To fix it, either use your finger or a wooden dowel and drive the hammer back. It takes a little bit of force. There is a good YT video on this and how to fix it. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOEQlyeEONY[/ame]. Check that out and associated videos. This guy knows his FPC! Good luck!

Thanks you guys! I knew I could get an answer here. The sad thing is that when I called S&W, some woman told me to ship it back to the factory or send it to a gunsmith. I told her that I was positive that the gun wasnt broke, I just missed a step in putting it back together. She should have known that this has to be a somewhat common issue to new owners of this gun, and simply told me to either go to the video you posted above or just stick my finger inside and push the hammer down. Good grief.
