I purchased a MP Shield 45 to carry for my concealed carry. It felt great in my hands and good reviews. I don't know what happened but the slide isn't locking when I clear it out. I'm not an expert on it. I use it for protection. Anyone have this problem? I would like to be safe around the weapon

• slide doe not lock with no magazine
• slide locks with an empty magazine
• been cleared and wiped down
• 100 rounds fired

I'm not sure I fully understand the problem.
The slide should lock back when an empty magazine is inserted and the slide is then pulled to the rear. The slide should also lock back when (after) the last round in the magazine is fired.

The slide will not lock back when there is no magazine in the gun. You can lock the slide manually when there is no mag in the gun by fully retracting the slide, and raising the slide lock manually/by hand.

Yes there is my problem. The slide will not lock when I try to raise the slide lock by hand. It only locks with empty magazine or when last round fires.

This is normal.
If you want to lock the slide back without a magazine inserted, you will need to hold up on the slide lock while retracting the slide.

It often takes a good bit of force to push the slide back far enough to then be able lock it in place by hand. I have found it's easier for me to insert an empty magazine, pull the slide back to lock, then remove the magazine.

Assuming you are right handed, I would suggest:
- mag out, pistol clear, safe
- overhand grip on the slide with left hand, use rearward force
- oppose that rearward force with right hand on the grip, pushing frame forward
- while maintaining opposing forces, use your right hand thumb to engage the slide lock lever upwards

That's how I do it too.
