Hello All. Do you guys try tightening up your AR upper/lower fit, removing factory slop in it? Accu Wedge, shims? I never thought about over all the years of AR ownership, but after owning a higher end rifle, I notice there's no slop in the receiver fit. What say you? Thanks.

I put an accu-wedge in a rifle I put together that has a Spike's Tactical lower receiver and parts and a complete Del-Ton 5.56 carbine upper. The fit between the Spike's lower and the Del-Ton upper wasn't the greatest, so I put the wedge in the lower and sighted the rifle in at 25 meters (300 meter combat zero) using an aero precision carry handle A2 sight. I got good results at 25 meters and reasonable results at 200 yards on a 175-meter feedback target. This rifle is shooting fairly well considering iron sights only and my aging eyes. Did the wedge help any? At least in this case it didn't hurt.

From high-end to throw-down can have the rcvr slop. Drives many folks mad. Never seen slop have any impact on functionality or accuracy. Accu-wedge and other "remedies" can aid in the emotional state of the shooter but that's about it. If it works in any manner then I hesitantly recommend it.

Reducing movement will help with accuracy.

However, perhaps one shooter in a thousand will see a measurable improvement. It probably doesn't matter to the rest of us mere mortals.

This comes up with beyond sloppy Ruger Mark pistol uppers and lowers. I don't think for any practical amount it matters much.

Unless the firearm is mechanically locked down to a bench, I doubt the variance would be measurable. Even if you could, all the other viariables would be greater anyway.

Play between the upper and lower is not going to matter. The sights and the barrel are all on the upper, so movement is not going to affect your zero. Plus, once the gun is shouldered, their isn't going to be any movement.
