MP9 vs Glock 17

Support the US and US manufacturers. Just because a company has a plant in the US doesn't mean their profits stay here.

And most importantly, I like the fact that that its made in America and is actually a solid American product. We are in a recession so I really dont feel like supporting Austria & Croatia.

+1

That is always the tie breaker. Before my first M&P purchase I had it narrowed down to two choices that I had in a dead heat in terms of fit, finish, feel, function and performance. The one with the "Made in the USA" stamp (and only USA) won on that alone.
Now that I'm a little more experienced with it, I can think of a few other advantages that I didn't recognize at the time; so I'm glad I chose the way I did...then did it again.

I have carried a glock 19 for years(10+). It is compact, light and utterly reliable as many of us know about these guns.

I must say my M&P proseries 9mm 5" rocks though. I've also fired the standard model. I have had very good accuracy results from my 5" at 25 yards. With Hornady TAP 124Gr off sandbags at 25 yards, I get 5 shot groups around 2". I feel these guns handle, point and recover from recoil better than glock. I can picture a 4" proseries .40 with nightsights in my future!!! Or even a compact .45!?!

BUT currently, I still carry the glock because it has proven to be UTTERLY reliable for a long time in my holster.

gotta carry what you know.
however, the M&P is an amazing gun,,, but I admit the glock is proven.
but I carry the S&W M&P 9MM PRO for work... AMAZING!
and it has never failed during all my requals and pratice sessions.
but then again.. neither has the GLOCK... pick aht you know and use.
were talkin about SD... and your life may depend on it!

I jumped on the Glock bandwagon in the late 80's when every LGS was calling them plastic crap and would not stock 'em. It took me weeks to track one down and then I had to send it in for upgrades a few years later. Eventually I settled on the Glock 19 as being the best Gaston had to offer. While I never cared for the ergonomics I was willing to compromise for the reliability, carry weight and simplicity. As I got older I got tired of compromising and sent one in for a grip reduction. $150 worth of GOLD! It was such an improvement I could not believe it. But costly to send in my entire collection. Then I heard about the Gen 4 Glocks and their interchangable back strips. Yes! About friggin' time. A month or so later I got to handle a prototype, what an utter disappointment. You have the choice of 2x4 or 2x3.99 (as in wood). Soon there after I picked up an M&P and will not be looking back. My M&P 9mm FS is everything that the Glock 17 is and more, and now I don't have to compromise. Add the Apex kit and Ameriglo front sight and I have found true perfection.
