I've been calling my 3 year old Bacciagalupe for quite some time and someone asked me where the name came from...hadn't really thought about it...figured one of my uncles made it up or it was just a nickname Italians used from way back..googled it today...now I remember where I heard it....:)

Abbott & Costello: Lou's Birthday Cake with Mr Bacciagalupe - YouTube

Wow! I just spent the last half hour watching Abbott & Costello takes on YouTube!

Classic comedy.

Thanks for the grins, Sip!

Datsa funny, but Italiano no speaka like dat.

I went to college with a Baciagalupo. He was of Ialian decent. Once when he got in trouble, his family lawyer was on the scene in 30 minutes to bail him out. I think there was a Mafia connection there.

Between my freshman and sophomore year of college, I had a job selling the American People's Encyclopedia. We had to memorize the spiel, which was directed at the fictional Mr. and Mrs Bacigalupo. "Never heard of the American Peoples Encyclopedia? Well, Mrs Bacigalupo, it was an old Sears set bought out by the Grolier Society, who brought it up to date, modernized it, until now it is the most complete home reference library you can buy. Look here, it even has pictures of the women who sweep the streets of Moscow and do other jobs ordinarily performed by men here in the States."

I never dreamed there might be real people named Bacigalupo, until a couple named Bacigalupo moved into the neighborhood. After a while they split up, which probably comes as no surprise, but it did surprise me when the Mrs. kept her ex-husband's name. She became an event promoter, and I used to dread it whenever I would run into her out on the town. She would invariably swoop down on me: "Dahling, you just have to come to my next event. Everyone will be there. It will be fabulous."

They say it's good to start early if you're gonna teach a kid a second language. Good goin', Sip!

Sip; You got that name from an old Italian I picked grapes [Zinfandel]for in the summer of '45. He wanted me to crush the grapes but my feet were too small & I weighed 115 lbs. So his wife did the job. She outweighed me by 200 lbs.
