I searched and saw some old threads on contacts but technology has progressed.
I had tried the Merit diopter sight, and a variety of stick on lenses and corrective lenses, including a different strength on the top and bottom of a lens with a neutral center, but they were always a compromise.
I started wearing multifocal contacts against the advice of my optometrist (they don't like them because it's hard to dial in a prescription). My eyes are pretty equal (need reading glasses due to age) so I convinced the doc to give me a multifocal with slightly stronger on my dominant eye for reading and weaker for my left eye (they feel reading eye should be non dominant) so I could properly focus on pistol sights.
I shoot with both eyes open and this has been life changing. Not only can I shoot but I can do everything else I do throughout the day without glasses. I gave up a little bit in distance, and it is a little worse at night and with dark glasses, but all around a decent compromise.
Worth a discussion at your next eye exam if you are always looking for your reading glasses.
