Murphy's Law

From oddshooter to smoothshooter,

Does starting on a Dillion 550 count if I used it as a single stage?

Not really.
The new guy should also prime cases separately with a hand tool to gain knowledge about the differences in feel between hard seating and easy seating, and the causes for the differences.

I was the new guy that started with a Dillon 550B. Glad I didn't start on a single stage and felt I learned everything I needed to know. Now there may be some slower folks out there that can't handle the complexity, but it wasn't an issue for me. Don't assume everyone else is so slow either.

Started setting up my New Hornady Lock-N-Load progressive press about 2 months. something that should have easily taken a few hours. every time i start, something would come up and take me away and it seems that I just cant find enough time to handcuff the wife and everyone long enough to lock my self in the reloading area. Guess I should have stayed with the Lee Turret press...

Tell them you are going fishing, park up the street, then sneak back to the house and into that room if possible. :D

IMO; A single stage, size deprime, prime w/ram prime. Meter powder with a bench mounted powder measure (although I started with dippers), weigh powder charge and charge cases. Seat bullets. Crimp separately. All steps done with simple, easy to operate, easy to remember how, tools teaches new reloaders best. Teaches reloading, not how to operate a reloading machine...

Kinda like teaching a teenager to drive in a Toyota Corolla with auto trans vs a Standard cab Peterbilt with 13 speed trans...
