Music that makes men cry thread

When I'm working in the cab tractor I listen to a station that plays some oldies and when I hear "Mr Bojangles" by either Jerry Jeff Walker or the Nitty Gritty Dirt band I tear up, I guess from losing good bird dogs and fine cats. Jeff

A lot depends upon your state of mind. In 1986 I took a job in Iowa and from '86 to '96 I'd often tear up or choke up over a song about the South. I do enjoy sad songs though and they sometimes make me choke up. Since I like Bluegrass there are plenty. Echo Mountain, The little girl and the dreadful snake, Bringing Mary Home, or The Christmas Letter are just a few.

Vince Gill....Go Rest High On That Mountain

My son died in the mountains in a four wheeler accident, and this song was played at his funeral.

It gets me everytime I hear it.

My deep condolences to you, sir.

When I hear Charlotte Ritchie sing that one, the screen gets pretty blurry.

No problem with someone crying at a funeral...or over taps...or over the loss of a loved one. But if we're riding down the road and you start crying to a song just 'cause it makes you weepy...I'm gonna backhand you so hard you'll fall out of the truck.

Thank you,
Never heard that one, I'll give it a listen. Probably won't make it throught that one either.

Two songs from the Grateful Dead bring a tear to my eye. One written by Merle Haggard.

"Let my guitar picking friend do my request"

Let him sing me back home with a song I used to hear,
make my old memories come alive,
take me away and turn back the years,
Sing me back home before I die!"

And of course , Stella Blue!

''I've stayed in every blue-light cheap hotel
Can't win for trying
Dust off those rusty strings just one more time
Gonna make 'em shine!"

A few years back , when we buried my oldest and closest Bro , we played Frank Sinatra's "My Way" as we lowered him. A few dozen of the toughest and hardest bikers and vets didn't have a dry eye among them.
