I run muzzle breaks, they do reduce the percieved recoil, most of them also affect accuracy in one way or another. When you change you muzzlebreak you must resight your rifle. Depending on where the ports are is where the sound goes. The break I am presently running is loud to the front but not as bad to the side, actually quieter than the A2 flash hider. If you have the opportunity try it without it. That honestly is the quietest it gets, get a thread protector for the end of the barrel and run without it. I have done that also, but I like the added length the brake gives my barrel.
