Since I posted my new Victory in the Victory data base, I thought I'd share a beauty given to me by my father...

I don't own a whole lot of revolvers, just bought the Victory, and a Model 1873 Uberti, and have a couple of Webleys (.455 and .38). This one my dad purchased new in 1980 in Ephrata, PA. The s/n puts it as 1979 production.

He paid a princely sum of $200 for the gun. I went with him to pick it up. I was 10, and I remember the "shop" was owned by the husband of one of the girls who worked with my mom at Wyomissing Savings Bank...it was in his basement, a real old time "Table Top Dealer"...

He hasn't touched it in years, and asked me if he should trade it in for something newer to go with his XD...I told him hell no, I want it! So he gave it to me last year. I shot this gun when it was new, I was 10-11-12...it was snappy for a 12 year old, even just with .38 Specials! But it brings back a lot of good memories of shooting at the range, and my dad carrying it when we went hunting or fishing, and me being allowed to wipe it down afterward. My dad always took religiously good care of his guns, and saved all boxes and paperwork, so this is in just about new condition, and complete...

Hope you guys enjoy seeing it!

Thanks all for the kind words on it.

Yes, it sure is a beauty, but as many of you point out it'll never leave my possession until its time to give it to my son, as it holds so many memories for me.

Hard to believe it was 40 years ago now when I went with him to pick it up.

My dad is the greatest father/friend I could have and still have. He made me the father I am today to my son. And this revolver is a tangible connection to all the years...

I got my first 28 in 1968. $101.00. My father had to go buy it for me. i traded it for a Browning Hi Power in 1971. Still have that. Took me 50 years to get another 28, and I now have 4. :)

That is one fine revolver and with all the goodies. The model 28's are getting a lot more respect than they used to get. They are great revolvers to shoot and will probably out last all of us.
