Looks in good shape mechanically and has recently been lubed. Slide/frame fit has very slight play, but likely less than any other semi I own. Barrel lock up feels rock solid.

I need to clean the grips with an old toothbrush and the mags are grubby.

Trigger is VERY smooth in DA, but has an odd hitch in SA, like some kind of internal safety is operating. Is that normal? Dry firing I notice it fits my hands/grip very well.

The tritium insert sights have some glow left, much to my surprise.

My FFL complimented me on the deal, so I must have done well.

So did you get just a bare pistol in a plain brown wrapper or were they in a case with manual and such? Just curious what they came with. Anxiously waiting for mine which should be delivered tomorrow.

On the trigger play I have sent a 4566 and a 6906 back to S&W. I just called customer service and they emailed me a UPS label and I shipped them back. The 4566 about 3 years ago and the 6906 this year. Both work orders said replace trigger assembly. And they even put a new grip on the 4566 and didn't charge me a dime. And as far as the parts naysayers here on the forum I have talked to a couple of different customer service reps and they are saying they still have parts to do warranty work on 3rd gens..oh and I forgot to say you lucky son of a gun on the tsw I was to late.

Much to my surprise it came in a black plastic S&W case, but without a manual. No worries, they are available online.

Trigger spring tweaked to eliminate the click. My foaming bore cleaner pulled out a little copper, so I know the gun has seen some shooting. Second pass came out clean.

I recently ordered some small parts from S&W, and they sent them no charge. Great company.
Good to hear parts are alive and well, too. Maybe we can put down the crying towels for awhile.

Perhaps , just maybe S&W realizes that there is a hard core following for there older all metal guns and there were enough made that we are not going away anytime soon.

5906TSW arrived today

My 5906TSW got to my FFL this morning. Looks brand new. Very minor holster wear. I mean I really had to look. Action is smooth and tight. A outstanding weapon. Grips are like new. No chips or worn marks. No cracks. Well, the feds delayed me. (as usual) So I'll pick it up Friday. The black plastic box looked brand new. Just missing 1 mag. (I ordered the 2 extra) AIM's did right by me.
I can't post pics (I'm low tech.) but I do have 2 on my cell.

AIM 5906TSW

Congrats to those that got in on that steal.:)

You ain't kidding. It is a STEAL. I'm not even worried about the missing mag. I'll give them a call, but still with 2 mags and a near mint S&W, I'm a happy camper. I still can't believe what I got. :D

Got mine today. It looks fairly representative of the pic on AIM's website. The other side the grips are a little more worn due to being exposed and away from the body. There's a few spots that the retention feature of the holster did some polishing on the finish. Aside from that, mechanically it is most likely hardly fired. Plenty of lint though.

I'm going to bead blast the grips to see if that would even up the finish a wee bit or just replace them. The tritium is a little weak, specifically the left side of the rear sight.

It came in a new Smith and Wesson black box with a manual for a M&P and some other S&W paperwork. Pics coming after clean-up...

I'm thinking walnut shell media may be perfect for blasting the grips, without damaging them.

I had a retired state trooper who collects S&Ws and works at my LGS tell me that he uses them to restore the factory matte finish on stainless steel 3rd gens.

Just picked up mine as well. Definitely falls into the lower end of the "great condition" description. Right side of the grip is pretty well chewed, front tritium vial is AWOL and the rear sigh t looks like someone tried drifting it with a hammer and no punch (or loosening the allen screw). Similar polishing of the finish in places...and even some stylish red paint spots :).

Insides look great, but the trigger play spring needs a tweak.

At least I won't be worried about packing it from time to time and shooting the snot out of it.

I was finally able to hook up with my part-time FFL dealer today and pick up my 5906TSW that I bought from AIM. I feel like I won the lottery because it is gorgeous. Here are a few pics for you to drool over...anyway that's what I'm doing.

Finally heading out to the range with my AIM 5906TSW. Bringing 5 boxes of 124gr fmj. Had it for over a week. LCPfraTN, were those two mags you have $14.95 a piece?
