Five or six years back I sold my entire M64 collection to a local Forum member. I had all four examples, tapered, two inch, three inch and four inch. As usual, shortly after the sale I was in regret mode. Oh well life goes on. Not the first mistake I made.
Fast forward to 2021 and I was lucky to get a couple of them back. Did a bit of horse trading with my friend and the 4" and 2" came back home.
I had purchased the 4" dash 3 around 2012. It was trashed. I knew what it was when I bought it and wanted to save it.
Cylinder was wobbling around and scraping the forcing cone. Everything about it was toast. Off to the Performance Center. Back then there was a S&W employee who was absolutely a Master of his craft. He took my trashed 64 and performed major surgery. When I got it back the S&W invoice listed what was done along with a bag of used up parts. Even turned the barrel back to correct the B/C gap. The gun was like new. Tight as a tick with an added bonus of having the absolutely nicest trigger that a S&W could have. It is like butter. Double action is so smooth I later installed a DAO hammer and saved the spurred original.
Told my buddy he has first dibs on getting them back when they are lowering me into the hole. He'll get them back eventually. Thanks Mitch....I really appreciate it.
The 2" was another rescue. It is equally nice, I'll get into that one later. A quick pic for the visual.
