I bought my 686 at the end of '09 and liked everything about it from the get go. I initially found my comfort zone firing single action being used to my Berettas. For the past almost seven months however I have diciplined myself to training in double action only and holy komolie....wow, I got it:cool: I am shooting this revolver so consisently accurate that sometimes, actually all the time I can't believe it. :D
Is this some kind of phenomenon or do revolvers just shoot more accurately? The downside? Takes longer to clean to my OCD satisfaction....ok gotta go now and clean the S&W:D

Some years back while qualifying for my CC in New Mexico (back then you had to qualify in each caliber to be added to your license); anyway, I recall firing my 686 and drawing a crowd. They seem to be interested in the fireball then my accuracy...A real blast and a damn good weapon...Enjoy yours...

Don't know if it's the shooter or the gun, but I tend to shoot revolvers better also. Enjoy the 686, I like mine a lot too. :)

Me too, and double action with my 686+ versus single action with my Browning Hi Power. I have many more flyers with the autoloader. Very puzzling.

Just stick with it and eventually the speed will come along with the accuracy. Good revolver shooters give up nothing to auto shooters with regard to speed or accuracy.

Most of the people I take to the range with me shoot S&W revolvers better then they do my semi auto pistols because the revolvers have such better triggers in them. I really like my 686 no dash with 6 inch barrel and it's an excellent shooter. The only exception is when shooting my well tuned 1911 Colt Government or my S&W model 41 target as they have excellent triggers also.
