My 952 Collection

Wow!

Wow! What a nice collection. My favorite would have to be your "grail" 6 inch two tone. I think that is the same configuration as the one that brought $12775 on GB recently. I tend to favor the 6 inch guns, I just like the look and feel of the extra weight. I have just recently bought a couple of 952-2's but haven't had a chance to shoot them yet. I can't wait.

Every time you post examples of your collection it leaves me speechless....So I'll just...........................;)

Wow, really nice collection Bill, are there any P/C handguns that you searched for and haven't found. Most of the ones I have were just tools used for competition. At least I took good care of them. Its amazing how affordable they were at the time , but not now.
I would think you easily have the largest collection of P/C guns unless someone working there collected them. Thanks for sharing.. Bob
Glad someone brought up the ambi/lefty safety issue. As a lefty, Ive been called out on it a couple times with ,Oh they didn't come like that, I just shook my head and said pretty simple just ask them to put a regular decocker on the gun. If you switch one out, it needs to be the right side lever used on later versions and the TSW guns, with the small bump to keep the lever away from the wider frame.

What is there to say???
My normal area of interest is early hand-ejectors and N-Frames but when you see a collection like this one.... and of such a remarkable example of accurate pistol making skill...speechless.

However, since you asked, after staring at this thread for a good half hour, simply for the fun of it as there no real choice to be made in my mind, my favourite is the 6" 952-2 'Masterpiece'. It's simply that, a masterpiece.

Thanks so much for the dedication in building the collection and then sharing it with us.

I was wondering are you contemplating setting up at any shows after this virus thing dies down(hopefully). I would love to have a chance to see your collection in person. Im sure others would also. I know this year it was supposed to be in Tulsa , has it already been held or later I hope. Thanks
Again wonderful collection...

Y'know Bill, if this gun collecting thing doesn't work out for you, I think you have a real future in gun porn! Your photographs are as impressive as your collection-thank you for sharing.

Sam

Please accept my apology for not paying more attention.....

I do remember seeing your display in Baton Rouge but wasn't into the semi-autos as much then as I am now. Had I known more about what I was seeing my interest would surely have peaked sooner. To say your collection is impressive is an understatement so I'll just add my admiration and congratulations for your having the foresight to pick a sure winner.

I am all in for the 952-2. I have had mind for a few years now and it is still a range favorite.

That has to be -THE- most rare 952 in existence, and it is shown in PC promo flyers. That pistol exists on it's own plane.

Awe inspiring.

Wish S&W would whip up a new batch of 952s. Am sure they would cost a bit more though!!

WOW! Stunning collection and thanks for sharing! I still have my test fired only -2... my only prized possession safe queen.

To answer the first question, I don't recall ever looking for a model or variation that I couldn't find. I was also extraordinarily fortunate to become friends with a couple of forum members who showed me the ropes and sold me some really fine pieces.

As for displaying in the future, I'm afraid some medical issues make that all but impossible now. Besides, I was a Navy pilot for seven years and then a captain at Delta Air Lines for almost thirty more, so I've done enough traveling to fill lots of photo albums.

Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments.

Bill

Sorry, I will disagree with you there. The 2020 S&W is wholly unqualified to make anything like these pistols. It would be a bumbled travesty.

I wholeheartedly agree. I don't think they have the talent and experience in the PC today to do it.

My understanding is when you see a DABxxxx or a KAZxxxx serial number on a 952, that is identifying the guy who built the gun.

You need the right guy with the right experience to do.that. Don't think it exists these days.

Don't know why they quit the briley bushing, my 952's out shoot any other 9mm I have. Run one magazine through one every morning and never a hiccup.

Thanks for sharing, you have done well!

Bill,

As a novice, I greatly appreciate your informative posts on the 952.
It never fails; members here teach me more about a given model than I could ever learn anywhere else!

Your collection is truly mind-blowing!
(I can't choose... I would feel blessed to find any ONE of those beauties!)

Model 952

It is a SAD week in Canada as our leader has cancelled all handgun purchases and transfers effective October 21st. At the very last minute on the morning of the announcement I did however manage to purchase a 5 inch 952 in the proper aluminum case for an excellent price. A call today to the Chief Firearms Officer confirmed that I will receive the pistol so I am elated to be the owner of a pristine 952. I will post some pictures when it arrives as my last handgun purchase ever (unless we change the government). Thanks Bill
