My Apologies To Buffalo Bore

Last week I wrote a thread here about a bad experience I had with Buffalo Bore ammunition. It was a knee-jerk reaction and rash on my part to have written such a post.

I communicated with the owner of BB and he was completely professional.

Today I received the 2 boxes I ordered from Able's last week before I shot the BB ammo I already had where several of the rounds failed to ignite. I fired an entire new box today with zero problems. The ammo was consistent and very accurate. Absolutely excellent ammo.

A batch of bad primers can happen to any ammo company and I apologize to Mr. Sundles and BB ammo for my harsh and rash reaction. I would not hesitate to recommend BB ammo to anyone.

I had a very similar experience and found him to be a stand-up guy. I'm happy with the ammo. I've been on Kodiak Island and around Alaska for over 20 years and trust the ammo.

Wright you tread, read it over and reread it. Get a cup of coffee and reread it again and then after your cooling off period you still feel you need to vent then post. Sometimes the cooling off period and a contact with the correct person will solve your problems. It was good to know though that there was a problem with the ammunition in case others happen to have some.

Everyone has a bad day from manufacturer to consumer. Just a good thing you tried your ammunition and didn't have a problem when you really needed it. In the times of a emergencies you hope you equipment functions proper but you never know.

Glad to hear things worked out for you and you posted a good comment afterword's. I'm sure Mr. Sundles wanted to hear about your problem so he could initiate a recall if necessary.

I assume he replaced the bad ammunition. Was yours the only complaint or was there a complete bad batch if he told you.

I AM EMPATHETIC WITH REGARD TO THE OWNER. OTHER THAN A VISUAL INSPECTION OF EACH AND EVERY PRIMER--WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT UNCOVER A POTENTIAL PROBLEM--THERE IS NO WAY FOR HIM TO GUARD AGAINST AN OCCURRENCE LIKE THIS. BUFFALO BORE MAY OPT TO USE PRIMERS FROM A DIFFERENT SOURCE WHICH HAS MORE STRINGENT QUALITY CONTROL, TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. THEIR AMMO IS ONLY AS RELIABLE AS THE COMPONENTS USED IN ITS MANUFACTURE. AS THAT BRAND OF AMMO IS USED IN HUNTING LARGE DANGEROUS GAME AND FOR PROTECTION AGAINST PREDATORS, BOTH 2 LEGGED AND 4 LEGGED, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT EACH ROUND PERFORM AS EXPECTED. ANYTHING LESS COULD END IN TRAGEDY……..

Part of what I dislike about the net, is how untrue information can be unintentionally (never mind the intentional) imparted.

The pictures the OP originally posted showed Remington brass with factory sealed Remington primers. I do not recall ever using Remington 357 mag. brass, with factory Remington primers in any of our 357 mag. loads. So, I am not certain about what is going here. I suggested to the OP that he had somebody else's ammo in our packaging, but based on the pics, it is not our ammo and if it was, the primers are factory sealed/water proofed Remington.

I foresee the day when all ammo companies will utilize sealed packaging to prevent tampering, just like pharmaceuticals. We are actually working on developing such packaging right now, but the several hundred thousands of dollars it will cost, has us doing this as we can afford it. Over the 17 years we've been making and selling ammo to the public, we have seen numerous times when customers have purchased a box of our ammo, that had the contents switched. Normally this type of thing happens because a gun shop sold the ammo and then when the customer returned the ammo, the gun shop did not realize that the contents of the box had been removed and replaced with some very cheap stuff, but the customer walked with our expensive and high quality ammo...........This is why we have a "no return" policy on any ammo we sell. Ammo is not tamper proof and should never be sold to a private individual, taken back and then resold as new ammo to another person--it is a dangerous and unfair practice.

At any rate, I am not yet sure what is going on with the OP's first post. He is returning the ammo to me for my inspection, but please adopt a "reader beware" policy of stuff on the net. My best to all.

I tried some 180 grain BB 10mm in my Ruger Vaquero...what great ammo! It was accurate and hard hitting, putting Federal and Winchester to shame. It was my back-up gun on an elk hunt. I would have grabbed some 200 grain BB ammo, but none was to be found. Buffalo Bore, though pricey, is quality stuff.

Same with Midway..

I got a letter from Midway about an order one time when things were really scarce and I wasn't in a mood for bull and the letter was really easy to misinterpret. I went off half cocked and emailed Larry Potterfield and cussed them out, but after I realized that the letter was really in my favor, but worded strangely, I had to write back and apologize.


PS: I did explain that the letter could have been written much better, but was probably prepared in haste.

PPS: A lot of us (for good reason) expect a big hassle and negative response when we deal with companies because that happens too often. Dealing with a straight up outfit is a rare pleasure. I'm glad to see Mr. Sundles stick up for his end and that he has a presence on this forum.

I don't think its Buffalo Bore who has to do anything, as it's not their ammo.

In the 1st post where Buffalo Bore was getting some flack, a poster advised they have never seen Buffalo Bore with Remington cases nor sealed primers.

I didn't pick up on that when I looked at the pictures BUT the only Buffalo Bore loaded rounds I've ever seen were made with Starline cases.

Tim has seen this before (another manufacture's loaded round in his boxes) and I would imagine most of the people who purchased the "misbranded" ammo probably weren't satisfied with Tim's explanation that it wasn't his ammunition.

It's real unfortunate we have people out there that would even consider doing this but we have, as seen in pharmaceuticals, electronics etc.

That's ok, I shot one saturday and had about 4 failure to fires out a box of Winchester WB. Stomped around fitching and fussing about Winchester till it dawned on me the NEW ammo was still in the seat of the truck.... It was some reloads I had done and the primers wasn't fully seated. OOPS...

I'm a big Buffalo Bore fan and as of today they are the only ammunition company I have NOT YET had to write a letter to, return faulty ammo to, or complain about false advertising.

So far their products have all exceeded my expectations and to date are the ONLY ammo company that states on their packaging EXACTLY to the T how their ammo will perform in real guns of specific barrel lengths - SPOT ON BB!

Buffalo Bore's lower-recoil .44 mag ammo puts FedRemChester's ".44 Magnum" ammo to shame.
The big ammo companies load hot .44 Specials in Magnum brass and call it Magnum ammo.
Tim Sundles loads .44 Magnum ammo in .44 Magnum brass and calls it what it is.
I am a fan.
His .38 LSWCHP +P puts their "FBI Load" to shame, as well.

WELL, THOSE ARE TWO GREAT ENDORSEMENTS BY CHIEF38, AND JAYMO. I HAVE HAD NO PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH BB, SO I CAN'T ADD ANYTHING MEANINGFUL TO THE CONVERSATION. I MUST SAY THAT THIS THREAD CONTAINS THE ONLY NEGATIVE POST THAT I HAVE EVER READ ABOUT BB AMMO. ANYTHING ELSE THAT I HAVE EVER READ EXTOLLS IT'S VIRTUES. I WOULD TEND TO BELIEVE THAT THE AMMO IN THE BB BOX WAS NOT ACTUAL BB AMMO. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE WITH AMMO LEFT ON SHELVES. I SHOP AT AN LGS, WHERE A SWAP OF AMMO BETWEEN TWO BOXES COULD BE VERY EASILY ACCOMPLISHED IN THE NARROW AISLE, IF A PERSON HAD A CRIMINAL MIND…….

My next ammo purchase will include Buffalo Bore 9x18 Makarov ammo.
Their 95 grain HP at 1200 fps is flat out nasty.
It makes Hornady's Makarov SD ammo look like light plinking loads.
BB ammo is the real deal. Not light loads with +P stamped on the case.
It's rompin', stompin', butt-kickin' ammo.

BB .357 Mag ammo is not for the faint of heart, either.
It's real magnum ammo, not this castrated .38+P garbage that FedRemChester foist upon us.
K frames tremble before BB .357 ammo.

Yep, I like BB ammo.

I'm not trying to be picky but I'm unclear on exactly what the trouble was or it's resolution.

I like a happy ending to a story as much as anybody & an apology is very considerate, but...

If it wasn't authentic BB ammo that's fine, tell us.

If they had a bad supply of components/bad run of ammo at BB & they addressed it in some manner, and then made it right for you, tell us.

The 38 Special BB Outdoorsman load (their real 38/44 load) is quite good. You don't have to "go around front to know that it just went off." You don't have to worry about shooting too many of them at once when you shoot them in your J frame. 158 grains at 1,150 fps is loads of fun in a J frame.
