My brand new 9mm M&P 2.0 doesn't have the "tactile and audible trigger reset".

I have a brand new 9mm M&P 2.0 that I purchased at a local gun store here in Jersey. This is my first firearm, and I've just spent the last couple weeks using dummy rounds, and getting to know the in's and out's of the 2.0 before I take it to the range.

I was looking at S&W's website yesterday at the product page for my M&P 2.0 9mm, and it specifically says the 2.0's have a "tactile and audible trigger reset".

Mine does not have a "tactile and audible trigger reset". I may be new to firearms, but when I dry fire it with, and without dummy rounds, and I slowly release the trigger, I don't hear a click, or feel one at all. I've watched many youtube reviews on the 2.0's, and each time they have been able to clearly show the "tactile and audible trigger reset" that S&W is advertising as a feature.

I called S&W today, and the customer service guy told me that he couldn't diagnose the issue over the phone, and I'd have to send it to them, and their turn around time is 3-5 weeks.

I'd rather not send the weapon to them for 3-5 weeks. Does anyone have any insight into why there isn't a "tactile and audible trigger reset"?

just to clarify, you reset the slide when you dry fire while still having the trigger pressed, right? Press trigger and hold it all the way back, reset the slide, then slowly release the trigger until it resets. I know thats obvious, but I thought Id ask

Sometimes things aren't so obvious, at least to others. So it helps to state it from time to time.

Also, when Dale says "reset" the slide, he means to manually pull the slide back about half way and let it go. That action mimics what happens when you fire a live round and the sear and striker all get reset for the next shot. That doesn't happen with a dummy round.

its_Dale, and Trailryder50, Thank you for your help. This is my first firearm, and I was dry firing, and I would pull the trigger, then release the trigger, then pull the slide back to eject the dummy round/chamber another round, and pull the trigger, and release again before pulling the slide back. Of course, I now know doing it this way, I don't get a tactile and audible trigger reset, but of course, as its_Dale pointed out, when I pull the trigger, and then pull the slide back to eject the dummy round, but not letting go of the trigger unit after, I do get the tactile and audible trigger reset.

Since I purchased the firearm, I've spent as much time as I can getting to know the in's and out's, and what every component does first before I purchase live rounds, and go to the range. A friend of mine is ex military and is a certified firearms instructor, and I'm going to go shooting with him also.

Thank you to both of you for you help. I'm happy I don't have to send my M&P 2.0 in to Smith & Wesson for 3-5 weeks.
