So with S&W being the importer of Walther I figure this counts as a family album with my Black Mauser being a distant cousin. From top to bottom, My 1936 VZ-24 (Mauser 98), my Sport and my Walther P1, there you have my family of black guns, everyone of them expensive toys, except the Walther hasnt been near as expensive as the other two...LOL

Nice selection of weapons to keep the zombies at by from a long distance to up close and personal. :)

Sweet P1. I've been on the hunt for one for a while. I just haven't found one in a condition I like. P1/P38 at the gun shows look beat. The last time Cabelas had P1's in excellent condition, there was a line out the door.

I hold a CCR FFL. I'm just hesitant to buy off the internet. I'm not used to buying sight-unseen, and hoping that paying the extra $$$ for "hand pick best of five" service will actually be worth it.

JaPes...I have some wooden handgrips for it that I have been using tung oil on for a few days...I am at the stage of lighly hitting with real fine steel wool and letting dry....I wish I could hurry the drying but I cant. It will look real sweet. The P1 is a 1/81 never issued and until I got it never shot except at the factory...its a great piece.

I have a set of wood hand grips for the P1 that have there 10th coat of tung oil on them now...takes forever to do wood, maybe thats why I am not a carpenter LOL

There's no way to low-heat bake them to get the oil to set faster? For you to have gotten to a tenth coat is a testament to your patience.

Bill, I dont know if there is but everything I have read and have been told says to thin coat them and then steel wool and then thin coat until the pores are all full, it took about 5 coats before I noticed that the pores were starting to fill. but I am almost done. and they will be sharp!

Wheres the Czech VZ 24, (that remington looking thing) They were sure ahead of their time with that synthetic stock and scope mounts.

Poke, poke

dressed up the walther!!

I have been working on a set of pistol grips for the Walther P1 for a couple of weeks. I decided that the finish was deep enough, so I installed them and here they are, I am not the best woodworker but am learning. Also my photography skills are lacking but here they are:
