I just got an e-mail to let me know that my S&W M&P 15T is in and I can come over to the store to do the paperwork and pick it up. :D Living in Missouri all I have to do is pass the NICS check and pay for it and I can go home with it today. I'm planning to start shooting 3 gun. I punched up to Master Class in NSCA Sporting Clays last year and I now have to shoot against the Pro's in Master Class, so since I have a regular job and don't have the time to put into competing on that level, I figured I would go find another game to play. Any advice on what I may want to do to the gun to compete with it?
In the meantime I'm going to go shoot it!:):D

Congrats! Love the 15T and 15TS. In fact, I'm torn between the 2 as to which one to get.

Can I be so bold to ask if you got it below msrp?

The T has a quad rail and a 16" government profile Melonite treated barrel/bore with 1 in 8" twist and 5R rifling. The TS has a tubular Troy hand guard and a 14.5" barrel pinned to 16" OAL (Smith Vortex flash hider). It's bore is chrome lined and features a 1 in 7" twist with standard rifling I think. Both flat tops from end to end with flip up sights. I have the T but have not fired it yet. Very satisfied with the quality of finish and construction. Glad I got a 5R barrel. Hear good things about their accuracy.

Kadonny, you may be bold and ask but I don't have to reply. But no, I didn't get any sort of discount.
I didn't get out to shoot it this weekend. As it is I haven't found the time to clean it yet. I'm looking forward to it though. I think since this is my first real AR (my 15-22 doesn't count) I will take my time and shoot it for a while before changing things. Maybe the rail and the trigger at some point? I plan to use it for 3-Gun shoots eventually.

Does your new T have the 1:8, 5R barrel, or the 1:9 barrel? Have seen reports that the T is now coming with the 1:9 barrel, same as the Sport.

Thanks jwints, no worries you got a great gun for the money. Just think a few months ago the Sports were selling for that kind of money!

Enjoy the rifle, I love the T and the TS both!

cyphertext, how can you tell? Is it stamped somewhere on the barrel?
Seriously, I haven't had much time to inspect it since I got it. Also being new to ARs I don't know the difference. Which is better? Doesn't it have something to do with the accuracy with regard to heavier ammo?
