My first S & W Center Fire - Model 539

This is my first S & W Center Fire a model 539 sn 766086 can someone here tell me its DOB? I have a Model 41 with the short barrel and the long barrel-an awsome pistol. I hope this 539 is as good.

Hello,
A nice fairly uncommonly encountered pistol. The serial# prefix has an "A" in front of the numbers and is included in the serial#. It dates to about 1982. If it has fixed sights, it's very uncommon. Only about 8,159 total pistols produced. I've personally never seen one in person, only pic's. Should be a nice shooter.

Congrats on the 539. I've been looking for one for the last several months and finally popped on one last weekend. Picked it up from the 'auction' site,.....should be here within a week. Will post up when it arrives.

Very nice I just got one like it 4 week ago along with a very minty 639
Both about 98 plus percent. Both very sweet shooters. Getting tired of the polymer stuff and going backwards old school in ky retirement.
You will be very happy with that beutiful 539! Great luck with it!!

Here's mine. The nickeled 539s are a lot rarer than the blued ones. I just lucked into finding this one at a gunshow.
