My First S&W Revolver...A Highway Patrolman!!

Congratulations. I got my first N frame, a Model 28-2, a week or so ago. I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet, but I did walk down the hill with a pocket full of 38 reloads, to shoot at an empty milk jug. Man that thing is fun.

Very nice! To me there's just something cool about the Highway Patrolman...more of a working man's gun. I've got a 6" and would love a 4" to keep it company.

My HP didn't come with its original grips so I bought some laminate walnut smooth magna's from Altimont. The fit was so-so, not bad but not that great. They would be better I think with a T-grip. But then I ordered some of Ahrend's Combat grips and OMG... My HP is complete. Mine are cocabolo. I like the shade even if walnut would be more correct.

I've been cleaning up my target grips, and they are quite worn in places. The right grip has a lot more mileage on it compared to the left, and both the left and right medallions are worn down into the wood, as well. Given what the replacement cost of the factory ones are, I've been looking at other grips. I like those Ahrends a lot!! I've seen them for around $60 for a set of either walnut or cocobolo. Does this sound like a good price?
