I received my first Smith & Wesson revolver last week. It's a Model 63, 3 screw, pinned barrel. It was fairly dirty when I received it but it cleaned up quite nicely. I'm quite pleased.

Very nice start along with excellent photo of that gem. You cleaned it up so nice I think I see you smiling in reflection when you took the picture.
Looking forward to seeing your next S&W purchase.
Congrats!

Very good. I've had one for about 35 years. Over the years the trigger has honed down on its own to about 2 1/2 pounds.

Nice! Congratulations on your first revolver. That is a dandy.

jertex, I don't know if your interested, but I have the Model 34-1 "Kit Gun" and found the grips a little too small. I got grip stocks from Altamont that I like a lot and they much improved my shooting.

You did good! Congratulations, you'll find much pleasure shooting, cleaning, and caring for that model 63. But by the way you cleaned it up you already know that feeling.
Enjoy!

The M63 is my favorite S&W revolver if you judge by the number of times it gets to the range. Excellent pick to learn the fundamentals of revolver shooting without the cost, noise, and recoil of a center fire.

I bought a M631 that came with the combat stocks & liked them so much that I got a pair for the M63 as well. That was back when they were available at the local gun store at reasonable retail prices.
The 631 is the round butt and the 63 is a square butt like yours.

Am a big fan of the combat stocks on my 63. In my hands, it shoots right up there with my K22 and my 18-4.

To me, basic 'fun guns', nothing beats the .22 and of that genre, the wheel guns simply handiest for multiple reloads in the field. Add buying ammo in bricks and still 'comparatively' reasonable prices. Lack of noise & recoil; lesser concerns 'what' perhaps at extreme ranges or behind '.22 proof' backstops. A shooting package for relaxed fun. Not just a great intro to shooting handguns, but as much fun into senior years. My Kit Gun of about early seventies, very nice. From the days when I hiked, 'if' to have carried a gun, such as that likely.
Congrats jertex on that acquisition and to others thanks too for the Smiths displayed!
Here, just a happy, rambling take! :)

That's great to know. I'm looking for a set now.

I agree with your "rambling take" and as I'm getting older (58) & deal with arthritis in my hands/wrists, etc. it's nice to shoot for a couple of hours with no pain at the end of my shooting session.
