Just picked up my first Smith & Wesson - a model 915. I've been wanting a full size semi-auto 9mm for a while (my current handguns are compacts) and had decided it would be a 3rd generation Smith & Wesson. My preference was a 915 over the 910 but was more interested in right deal at right time.

It took a while to find the right one but it all came together last week when I found a slightly used 915 with 3 factory S&W 15 rounds mags. The gun is in very good to excellent condition. I would easily give it 90-95% (just the way I like them). Gave $325 shipped. I am very excited to send some rounds down range asap.

Serial number is VAU45xx. Any idea on date of manufacture? Anyone know of where I can find an on-line manual to learn take down and disassembly?

Congratulations, sounds like you did very well.

I can't comment on how great your pistol is though without pictures ;) .

Your Mod 915 should have shipped somewhere around 1994. The S&W website has the generic Metal Framed Centerfire Pistols manual that would work fine for your new pistol. Congratulations on what should be a fine gun.

I think the 915 is really make a come back, lots of people picking them up recently. Maybe because they are a non-nonsense handgun that just works! Congrats.
