I just returned from a week's vacation in the Caribbean, and low and behold I found a brand spankin' new S&W Forum format! Cool! I'm still experimenting with how everything works, and there are things that I like better and there are things that I miss from the old format. However, I thought for my first practice post I would show the first 3 S&W revolvers that got me back into collecting after a long hiatus. The first is a 2" Model 15-2 (1962/1964) that we inherited from my wife's grandfather. He was a long time LEO and Chief of Detectives in Kommiefornia back in the 1950s thru 1970s, and this was his EDC. Then came two revolvers that I acquired in 2009...a 4" Model 28-2 (1976) that I picked up at a local gun show, and a 6-1/2" .357 Magnum (1955) from my local gun shop. Since then, my modest collection of S&Ws has grown to 30 handguns. I know that 30 isn't a lot when compared to many of our fellow Forum members' outstanding collections, but it's plenty for me. I still have my eyes open for a couple more that are on my Wish List and I'll see how that works out. Enjoy!

My collection is smaller than yours. I have 13 S&Ws. Most of mine came from my father's estate. I sold a few of them and have been trying to replace them. I had a Model of 1902 1st year gun 5-inch nickel that I replaced with a Model of 1899 Target. A nickel Triple Lock that I was able to replace with a similar gun. A 4-screw 4-inch Pre Model 29. Was able to find a 5-screw 1st year gun to replace that. Those are three of my most recent purchases.20240712_165211 (4).jpg20240410_133804 (6).jpg20240627_142437 (23).jpg

Great look'n trio Hawg Rider!

I think your 15-2 (love those) is 1964 at the earliest as the 2" barrel was introduced in 64 according to the catalog.

Mike
Actually Mike, that 15-2 is a 1962. The frame was manufactured in the middle of the limited factory production run of Model 56s. Unfortunately for us, this one was not released as a Model 56 and it became one of the first commercially available Model 15-2s with the 2" bbl. (as you say, in 1964).

Love the grips on the 4". Were they on it when you bought it or did you find them? I have a couple guns i would love to have some fun grips & some that would fit my hands.
