Stubborn K Frame Sideplate

UPDATE: After removing the stubborn sideplate this morning by simply using a "bigger stick" (as per multiple suggestions here!), I easily replaced the factory trigger return spring with a Wilson 13# spring. The sideplate was reinstalled with just firm thumb pressure (a surprise after how difficult it was to remove). The single action pull went from 5.7 pounds to 3.6 pounds making a few cylinders of test groups shot off my patio much more satisfactory in size. Not yet quite on par with my 17 and 18, but getting close.

Kind of funny how my eight or so SW rimfire revolvers are always shot single action only, and most of my centerfires are shot almost exclusively double action. History of small game hunting and other tiny .22 targets,I guess.

BTW, the general workmanship on this .22 Mountain Gun is actually quite good, on par with my stainless guns from the past two or three decades. I did replace the factory Bear Hugs with a set of Ahrends I had on hand. They are my favorites
