My first trade, would you do it?

The 500 is cool but not much application. The AR is cool as well and actually has uses beyond cool. I would keep the AR if it is the only one you have. JMHO.

We have two AR's between dad and I but I wouldn't trade one for a 500. Of course I'm not interested in a 500 but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be...if you are really pining for the 500 then that's your call.

Besides, think of all the groovy stuff you can buy to hang on your AR, and all the stuff you can swap out when you feel like it if you keep it. Lots more pieces to play with!

First, keep the AR. If you want a hand cannon I would consider a 460XVR. I am fortunate to have an AR and the 460. I love shooting both but the recoils of the 460 is a beast. The 460 will shoot the 45 Colt for light loads, the 454 Casull for a bit more and the 460S&W Mag. A bit more versatility. I find I shoot about 20 AR rounds to 1 460.
