I was able to pick up this 5" pro last month and set about making it my ultimate HD/nightstand gun. The first thing to go were the stock sights which I changed out for the awesome Trijicon HD,s. I did the texture job and threw on the Surefire X300 Ultra.

This gun really shoots very soft. The test fire date was 6/2013 and the performance center sear is noticeably better than the sear on my department issued M&P 40 as well as my personal M&P 40. The reset is vastly improved over the earlier model M&P's (not that I had an issue with those), and it seems S&W has really made an effort to improve the M&P line in response to it's consumers. I am very happy with this gun, even happier that I was able to score some 17 round mags at a reasonable price from a buddy.

Very nice sir!

Somewhat similair to my bedside gun except I have the Novak Night sights installed by S&W. When Trijicon ships the new HD's with different height front sights, I will be upgrading to HD night sights as well. I love shooting the 40 pro with a light, .20 split times are no problem on 7 yard targets (the longest line of sight in my home) as the extra weight really keeps the muzzle from jumping too much. I keep it loaded with 180gr Federal HST.

Have you shot your pistol at 25 yards to see if the POI is slightly high?

The HD sights are spot on at 20 yards. The POI is hitting right on the top edge of the front sight. The 5" guns are usually low shooters with the factory .180 blade. Trijicon HD's are much taller both front and rear than the factory Pro sights. When installed on 4.25" guns they lower the POI, on the 5" guns I find them to be perfect. No change in front sight height is required in my experience.

I have the M&P Pro .40 with 5" barrel, Streamlight TLR-1S, and TruGlo TFO sights. It's dominant. Love the way the TLR-1S and the end of the barrel/slide are completely even with one another.

Man that'd be nice if it weren't for the messed up grip and frame. I wonder if S&W will fix that under warranty?

OK, I'm just messing with you. I really like it. We'll be needin' some close ups of your work though.

My nightstand gun is similar. I have a stippled grip and tlr-1 light. I went with TFO sights and the more manly .45ACP of course. ;)

I have both a 9 and 40 in 5" as well as a 40c. The 9 is a L and the 40 is a Pro. The trigger on the 40 was horrible.

Thank goodness for Apex.

Oh, I had a 45 as my nightstand gun but sold it off for another project. Plus I get free 40 and 9 ammo from work.
