ATIPR 7-9-2012 Stage 3 - YouTube

Running my 66 in a weekly "outlaw" IDPA match at a local indoor range. Outlaw meaning we follow the IDPA rules loosely.

I discovered the IDPA game back in Feb. 2011. I've not shot as many matches as I'd like for letting life get in the way and certainly don't practice enough.

One problem is I don't stick to one gun. I'll shoot the 66 or the 28 or the XD-9 or the CZ 75B, either of the 1911s or even my SW9VE every now and then.

The bunch that I shoot with at these Monday night matches just marvels at my running the wheelgun. The ego enjoys it even though I know I stink.

I do basicly the same thing. Our Club also holds an Outlaw IDPA Match every other month.
We have added a BUG Division, a Rimfire Division, and we only have an SSR Division for all centerfire revolvers. All Stages are 12 rounds with a Mandatory Reload. Our Match is Revolver Neutral in more ways than just words. We have always ran our Defensive Pistol Match this way, and have no complaints from the semi auto shooters.
We do not have a BOX, and do not worry about barrel lengths. Basicly bring what you have, and have a good time.
We do not shoot any steel at all in our Outlaw Match.
On the months we do not shoot the Defensive Pistol Match we shoot a Steel Challange.

I rotate between these in SSR:
4" 64-2 HB (Power Custom)
3" 66-2
3" 625-3 (Power Custom Combat)
2.5" 310 Night Guard
4" 610 No Dash (Power Custom Combat)
4" 686-5
4" 686-1 (Power Custom Combat) (Moon Clip)

In BUG:
LCR-22
442 Pro Moon Clip
2" 15-4 (Soon to be added, Trade in Progress)

Rimfire:
4" 617 6 Shooter
4" Ruger MK III

CDP:
Colt 1911

I realize I could shoot better scores if I picked a single gun and stayed with it. I would rather rotate between them all. If I am not shooting it, I will probably trade it for something I will enjoy shooting.
I reload my revolvers with:
Speed Strips
HKS Speed Loaders
Safariland Comp I, II, and III Speed Loaders
Speed Bees Rimfire Speed Loaders (LCR-22)
as well as Moon Clips.

The one thing that is pretty consistant would be my Revolver Holsters. I own 8 Lobo Pancake Holsters all with Inner Hammer Shields.

Rotating between 13 different handguns during the year in Matches is like having a Harem without being in trouble with the wife.

Shooting my 442 Pro Moon Clip, I can reload it with Moon Clips, Safariland Comp I Speed Loaders, HKS Speed Loaders, or Quick Strips. I prefer the Moon Clips carried in California Competition Works J Frame Moon Clip Carriers.
Shooting my LCR-22 I can reload with Tuff Products Model 1022 Quick Strips loaded with 7 rounds in Pairs, or with Speed Bees Speed Loaders.
With my 3" 66-2 and my 4" 64-2 I can reload several different ways, However I prefer the Safariland Comp III Speed Loaders carried in a couple North Mountain Carriers. I like to amaze the semi auto shooters with my revolver reload speed using the Comp III Speed Loaders.
The 610, 310NG, and 625 all reload with Moon Clips.
My 686-1 will reload with speed loaders or Moon Clips.
My 686-5 (6 Shooter) will probably never be reloaded with anything except Safariland Comp III Speed Loaders. It will probably be off to see Ron Power for his Power Custom Combat work before the Summer is out.
The Colt is a Series 80 XSE that has been worked on by 2 Smiths. It has lots of Wilson Combat parts. It is on the third set of sights. At the moment it has a Dawson Fiber Optic front sight, and a Dawson Charger rear sight. Before that was Wilson Night Eyes.

SCOTTJ like you I believe Variety is the Spice of Life with my handguns. I do not own any Safe Queens. They were made to shoot, and I shoot them all.
Looks like you have several YOU Tube Vidioes available to view.

What harm can there be in being proficient with ALL of the herd??? I do the same thing and am razzed about it constantly. I can run ALL of my herd and most other folks herd as well.
