I had been on the prowl for a decent priced AR15 for a while, and my buddy had 2 of them- he originally bought a Smith and wesson Sport 1 AR15, then shortly after purchased a newer upper with 1:7 twist, muzzle brake, and a few other goodies, so he had the Smith upper, and wanted a .22LR AR, so he bought a used Anderson Lower that was already built, and also bought a .22lr conversion kit. He used that for a while, then decided he wanted a real 15-22 so he sold me the Smith upper and Anderson lower for $425 (probably 1000 rds through it at that time) It came with only a Magpul flip up rear site, and factory front site. It had a pinned really cheesy Mass compliant stock on it, completely non-adjustable with a carbine buffer tube.

I like the old school look, so I visited North Carolina on Business, and stopped in the Palmetto State Armory and bought an A-2 Stock kit for my rifle. I also got a Handle style site for it, and this is what it looks like now.

I have to say, I love it now! Since we have to have a fixed stock in Mass anyway, why not make it look like an M16 as much as I can :) I thought about getting a triangle hand guard, but I really like the way it looks right now.

Oh my, I think I would move away from Mass first before adding an A2 stock to a carbine. But since you have the greatest QB ever I could see making the compromise.

After all, it's going to cost $20,000 to $30,000 to relocate to a different state, sell a house, buy a house, and find a new job - to say nothing of the effect on your family. But all of that pales into insignificance compared to the pain of putting an A2 stock on a Sport II.

:D lol I actually don't really like the look of the tactical plastic stocks- always struck me as cheesy- plus the A2 stock has storage for cleaning supplies or a lot of extra rounds - not sure I would put loose rounds in it though- would be afraid the recoil would smash the primers and bullets together and cause accidental discharge -

I forgot I added an MOE + grip on it too, I like the little bit of cushion, and again, it's got storage in the grip- I want to get an oil bottle that fits in there.

OH and the crummy fixed Mass Compliant stock and buffertube/spring I took off this rifle is available should anyone want it. really cheap.

I still like the looks of the M16A1 better than the mall ninja types that weigh more than a Garand or M14.

One Q? Where is your flash hider?

In Massachusetts they're evil- we can only have muzzle brakes, but I would have to have my barrel threaded or get another upper. I'm ok without one. They look cool and help a little, but on an AR15, I don't find it necessary- I'm not doing competitions.

WTH is evil about a flash hider? Does it make the SNOWFLAKES more scared than they are of the evil black rifle? SMH!

Makes it more deadly because you can't see the muzzle blast at all with a flash hider. Couple that with a silencer and every one is a sniper.

Had a conversation about guns with my father in law- who had rifles growing up- he's a democrat, and basically said anyone with a handgun is a killer because that's all handguns are made for, killing, and people with thousands of rounds of ammo are psycho, and criminals. I asked, do you think I'm psycho? What if I told you I have thousands of rounds of ammo? Not to mention I was carrying lol. Some people...

Actually it does. Thanks to Hollywood and other media, the average person has been lead to believe that things like flash hiders are only of use to psychos, criminals and terrorists. And if you're a politician, the best way to stay in office is to play on fears.
