My Model 66-2 Just Back From TK Customs

try pushing a 9mm Luger cartridge into a 38 special or 357 magnum chamber, it doesn't work.

If you check in the reloading books where they have the schematics of the cartridges you will find that the .38/.357 are slightly smaller in the body than the .38 Super and 9mm. That is why revolvers chambered for .38/.357 can be rechambered for .38 Super, 9mm and 9x23...

Bob

I'm eating crow. The OP was absolutely correct in stating that the chambers had to be "bored out". While the bullet is smaller, the case is larger. A straight wall case for the .357 measuring .3790. The 9mm has a tapered case measuring .3800 at the front lip and .3926 at the rear near the web.

This morning I grabbed my M65 out of the safe and attempted to insert a 9mm. NO GO. The bullet inserts and the case binds near the front. Chambers will need boring for the tapered 9mm case to insert. Where the .357 case measures .379 and the 9mm case at the front mouth area measures .380 I doubt there is enough meat in the chamber for a proper headspacing lip.

Bob or the OP, if you have a chance can you snap a pic of the inside chamber of the 9mm cylinder. Or better yet a single bullet inserted and headspaced like I posted above. Trying to get a look at the headspace step.

Thanks a bunch.
