Just got a new 986 and love it. Great action, very accurate but the gorgeous wood grips hurt my hand badly and I was going to order a new set of Pachmayr or Hogue rubber grips when it hit me that I had a few extras in the cellar that I removed from a K frame and N frame in the past. I tried them on this L frame and they fit perfectly. Seems like these Pachmayr Grippers are interchangeable among K, L, N, both round and square frames based on my testing.Now my hand no longer gets beat up. So if you ever have a similar problem, before you buy new, check your extra grip supply. You may already have what you need and can save yourselves some $.
