Well the countdown of 10 days ended today :-) Brought home a Model 17-4 (c.1978, 21K4xxx) that I got used from a guy on CalGuns.net. The land of "fruits and nuts" doesn't allow these babies to be imported, so I had to get it from another Kalifornian. Thankfully, he didn't want it any longer. Haven't shot it yet, just gave it a good cloth cleaning for the photo shoot. So now I have a K-frame in addition to my 686+ L-frame. Hmm, guess I need a J-frame and N-frame to round out the collection, eh? Can't wait to shoot it, my 1,000 rounds of .22 is calling to her...

Beautiful gun. I shudder to think of what it must be like to be forced to locate guns like this within your state. It must send prices through the roof! I always feel for Californians, since I feel that my home state of NJ seems to follow their leftist leanings with respect to gun laws.

How long did it take you to find?

I took my 17-6 for its second trip to the range yesterday. The previous owner did a great job sighting her in... These are amazing revolvers! Well crafted, exuding quality and should be shot regularly!

You've got the right idea. You must have a S&W revolver in each frame size. Don't forget the mother of all beasts, the X frame.

Congratulations on the purchase and 22 caliber S&W revolvers are a blast to shoot and are usually extremely accurate.

It actually didn't take me very long - I've been wanting to get a .22 for a few months now, but was contemplating between a Ruger pistol or an S&W revolver. I think it was the thrill of actually seeing one for sale at a fairly reasonable price ($650) that got me - it'll be a keeper, and one I look forward to teaching my kids with.
