Hi All,
My beloved 3.5" 27-2 has magnas numbered to the gun which is great, but it just didn't look right in the presentation case with the large cutout for the targets. I've always wanted a "nice" set of grips and after several emails with a very helpful Kurac, I had him install a set of medallions in a pair of coke profile birdseye maple grips. I could not be happier! You have to see this in person to appreciate it, the grips$are awesome and it looks great in it's case. Buy with confidence from Kurac, his work is amazing.
How do you all think it looks?

I am really crazy about having the original grips on my guns, but if I had to replace them with anything it would be the ones you have, that birdseye maple has got to be some of the best looking wood around and they look great on your gun which is also really nice, good choice!

Great vertical lines like mine that I love so much. I was never fond of the maples 'cause of the extreme whiteness, but seeing them on a gun like winchester1's adds a whole new perspective.

And the best thing is, they feel and shoot as good as they look. Really nice in the hand- I am sure you'll love them, Winchester1

Got a matching pair to put on my new to me 29-2 as well. Great grips for great guns, thanks John!

I posted this pic before but thought it appropriate again in this tribute to John. These are non-relieved on a pre-27.

To match these factory birdseye maple on another M544:

M544? I am not aware of that model and my SCSW3 is not at hand.

Gorgous grips BTW

The Model 544 was a commemorative for the Texas Wagon Train Association to celebrate Texas's 150 year birthday. 5 inch barrel chambered for the .44-40 Winchester Centerfire Cartridge. Less than 5,000 made in 1986.

Here's a set on a 3.5" Model 27-2. They are are superbly crafted stocks and John is a real gentleman to deal with.

Who is John Kurac and how does one contact him? What is his price range?

Thanks,

John's grips range in price based on wood choice and whether you want medallions and the football cut out. Email him about what you want and he will give you a quote.

These grips are really special.

I really enjoy maple and I wonder if someone has
some on a stainless beauty.
