Well last week the paperwork for my Model 29-10 Classic arrived so I went & picked it up :)

It has the 6 1/2" barrel comes with the normal blue plastic box plus the walnut case, Three extra sets of different grips & a Galco holster. I had not even seen the gun when I brought it but I know the bloke who had it for sale & all his guns are immaculate & when I spoke to the gun shop that had the gun on consignment he said the revolver is like new & said if the bloke who owns it had not told him that it had been fired he would have sworn it was a new gun !!
This Smith has only fired 120 rounds & out of that 120 only 12 were factory rounds & the rest were light target

The only thing is that there is no IL key with it
It has everything else with it All the paperwork, the screw driver & cleaning kit but just no IL key. So I have email S&W to see if they can send me a couple just so I have everything with my new toy

Took it to the range & what a great shooter, I'm very happy with it

Here's some pics for you guys & one is with his brothers, my model 28-2 & 686-3. I hope you like them

I'd love a 4" model 29 but here in Australia you don't see many 4" 44 due to our licencing laws but I'll keep looking

Take care & all the best.

What is the stock on your 28-2? It looks pretty nice. Just call S&W, those keys are very easy to get. If I still had mine I would just send you some. I don't bother with them since I remove the ILS on mine. If your local laws don't block that option you might try the same and order the "Plug" from the classified section on this forum.

Nice looking gun. I just bought the 4" in May. Had to send it back to Smith after 170 rounds of 44 Special. Wouldn't cock or cycle DA. They replaced the cylinder pin and ejector rod. It's back, going to the range today. Unusual to have any problems, but they took care of it within 2 weeks. Mine came with just the blue plastic case, you got all the goodies! Enjoy

Thanks Guys I'm very happy with it too.

Maximumbob54 the grips on my 28-2 are a set of Eagle Grips that came with the model 29. Didn't like the hogues that were on it & these fit my hand nicely & that of my daughter who likes to shoot the 28 :)

Coaltminer sorry to hear about your problems with your 4" but it's great that it's all fixed now. I'm still jelous Mate

Take care Guys & all the best

As for the key.

I guess it's nice to have, but does any one ever use that stupid lock any way? I don't and probably most of the guys here don't either.Eh? Good luck with that gun. She's a beauty.

Congratulations on the purchase of another great S&W revolver

Very nice. Hopefully it will give you many years of good shooting and reliable service.

Don't fret too much over the 4-inch barrel, unless you have the experience with shooting one more than a bit and KNOW you want one. The 6.5-inch gun is a much better tool. With magnum loads, 4-inch guns are just plain mean - and they look mean, too. :D Not much of a sense of elegance to 'em. :o

Your 6.5-inch gun has the advantage both in looks and in shooting, and will always be THE one, as far as S&W 44 Magnums are concerned.

I really wanted a 44 Special with a 3-4" barrel, but they're hard to find at a reasonable price, so I went the magnum route. I had a 629 about 20 years ago and shot mags in it, dang thing was brutal! My Classic ain't gonna see many of those. The 6.5 barrel IS the classic gun, I just wish they would go back to the recessed cylinders on these models, at least. They shoot well, and they're purteee. Good choice and thanks for the pics.

Thanks Guys,

I know the 6.5 barrel is the best & it is THE ONE for me

The 4" is just the one you just want for some unknown reason :) if I find one one day who knows I may get it but my 6.5 is the one I had a 29-2 some 15 years ago & in one of those stupid moments I sold it :eek: So this one is a keeper.

Take care, shoot straight & enjoy them Smiths

Lock Keys

G-day J.D.
Very nice gun you have there mate; I'm very envious, would love to do some silhouette shooting with that thing.
I have the model 27-9 classic in nickle with the 6 1/2" barrel and the same grips as you have on yours.
If you call Grycol International in Sydney (S&W imoprters) I think they should be able to help you with a set of keys.
Doubt that you will ever use them though, havent locked my gun since the day I bought it.
