I just put on law-a-way a used Performance Center 627-PC (no dashes), short barrel, unfluted cylinder, 8x 357, it had no case or papers but looks in nice condition. (It has a small scrach on the cylinder, and I dont mean the turn ring) I did a little internet searching and it looks like the pic listed below but with rubber grips. I've see it refered to as the Clint/Bloodwork pistol also as a Lew Horton gun. How rare are these guns and what are they worth? I dont plan on selling it but want to know how I did, I have always wanted a 8x revolver but wanted a pre lock. This is also my first non fluted revolver, I cant wait to shoot it. Now to find some moon clips for it.

Nice catch. There about 300 "Bloodwork" guns built. With box and all the right papers, they have managed to sell upwards of $3000. Gun by itself will be some less. I'm not real good at prices, but I would think if you got less that $1200 in it, that you did well. I understand they are now making them with the lock, but not sure of the retail price.

There are now three variations of what was originally named the "Ultimate Defense Revolver" or UDR. They are the 627-PC, like yours and these are the originals. Then the 627-3 built on the new CNC frame. And now there is the 627-5 with the IL. They are all unfluted. Clint Eastwood used a special fluted version in the movie Bloodwork, thus the nickname. Several members on this forum have had fluted cylinders fitted to their example. The current MSRP is $1414.00. In my opinion the original series, the 627-PC (and this is a dash variation) are the real collector pieces.

Congrats! Whatever you paid, you did well. Very desireable revolver.

S&W is making a knock off of it available, with the lock in it and asking almost $1500.

Will that be a shooter or a safe queen? Regards 18DAI.

18DAI, I think I will have to shoot a few round out of her but at this point I am undecided as to her role. I am happy about the price because I got her for $650. It did not take me 5 min before I decided to put her on layway. Thanks guys for the info, I hope to get her out of law-a-way soon and post some pics but it may be a while, I did not plan on buying a new gun anytime soon. I will also need to find some nice wood grips for her, anyone have some pics of there gun?

They came with Eagle Secret Service grips. Last time I looked, S&W had them for sale on the web site. Good luck ever finding a better deal on a gun. :)

Smee78, good pickup. I picked up my 5" barrel version this week. Some really good info posted here. as to that "Auction" pretty good turn ring on the cylinder for not having even dry fired it (what a b.s artist). Have fun shooting it.

Happy Happy Joy Joy

Well I finally got her out of layway, I took off the hogue rubber grips that were on her and put on a set of grips I had on my Smith 625 MG. I was waiting for for my gun to come from the back when I saw a new one (357 8x) brand new in the case, clinton lock and all (it was priced $989.99), I asked to hold the one in the case to see how the original grips felt and I think I like these that I put on better. Now I have to find some moon clips and a holster and I will be good to go.

And look at the wear on the bolt notches. I concur with you on the BS part.
