So, I posted the following when I purchased an early Model 5906 back around October 19. Here is my initial posting: (Model 5906)

Well, I purchased it without a box, but when I went to pick up the pistol after the 10 day wait, the clerk comes from the back with the lovely original S&W blue box with paperwork and tool kit sealed in the baggie. I was very, very happy to see blue once again.

The pistol was made very early in the production cycle, apparently in early 1989. You can see in one of the photos below that the slide has the pre-Novak rear sight and that no little step has been machined in the slide where the extractor pin goes.

Anyway, below are some photos of the blue box end label, pistol profile and pistol with target. It's a lovely example of an early production 5906.

Nice gun and good shooting. I always wanted a 5906 but I never did get one.

I have got one 5906 with adjustable sights, I plan on getting on with the sights like you have and one with Novaks. Great looking pistol

Nice find! I am looking for one myself.

I have a 5906 and like the pistol, but it would be nice if it were a little more accurate. Please do a post on what kind of accuracy you get in slow fire off the bench.

Thinman:

I don't shoot from a bench, but here is the next day's target with 15 rounds slow fire standing. Almost all of my 20 S&W pistols will do similar if I do my part. Since I shoot S&W pistols almost exclusively so I've gotten use to the triggers, some of which can be a little rough. Good luck.

DD...That's impressive. You are one of my Very best S&W Heroes....Nice Work! Keep that collection growing...there are still a lot more out there! Zebulon

I feel bad, stevie. I just got a new $10 coupon from the Turner's where I bought this 5906. I almost feel like sending you my new blue coupon . . . well, almost.

FWIW:

Heck, just pop a set of Crimson Trace Lasergrips on it, and you'll have all the accuracy you need

For the price of the Crimson Trace Lasergrips he would be better off just buying another 5906 and using one in each hand. $329 for the lasergrips i believe.
