I've been looking for one of these for a long time. I probably over-paid for this well used 66-2, but to me it's worth it. The serial number is 216K1##. But when I brought it home, the trigger felt awful, so I opened the side plate and there was absolutely no lube, so I used some high quality gun oil and it made a world of a difference! I cleaned the bore and cylinders and it looks so much better. Now I'm thinking that I will put Ahrends boot grips on it, I'm about 90% sure about that. But does anyone have any other ideas for a boot grip? I just don't know of a better option for the $60 price range or less, but then again, I know I have a LOT more to learn about these revolvers and other related accessories!

If you can find them Uncle Mikes Boot grip are made from rubber and IMO very comfortable. I believe Hogues" Bantam grips are good too. If you're going to stick with wood grips the Ahrends are fine, I just think the rubber grips are more comfortable though they definately don't look as attractive.

I haven't shot too much with rubber grips, but I looked for those grips and I couldn't find any with the finger grooves. But then again, I prefer wood, as it doesn't grab on clothing and yes, I'm also a snob when it comes to how my S&Ws look!

Nice! I have a 4" 66-2 and love it. It's my "truck gun". I want a 2.5" one as well. Give that baby a good polish job with Flitz and it'll look like new - or you may want to leave the "character" marks. Either way, great gun. Enjoy.

Very nice! Congrats!

It simply does not get any better than that in a snubby S&W, and Won't either. Enjoy yours! Regards 18DAI.

Grips

I have these Uncle mikes on mine,(1st photo) very comfortable, but no longer made,I think S&W has a very similar one on the late K frames, check the current 686+ in the S&W catalog or website (2nd photo here)

Congratulations, I got a 3-in in December and really like the gun. Mine came with Pachmyer Compac grips and they are very comfortable and conceal well.

I would have loved to get a 3", but I either couldn't find one or most likely wasn't in my price range! If you don't mind me asking, what holster are you using to conceal it? I'm thinking of doing so myself.

Love my 66-5, snub

I have several grips for it, but carry it with Eagle Secret Service grips, made from ebony.

they are nice and black, checkered, and leave the back strap exposed, for a thin and beautiful-looking grip.

I lent this revolver to my dad, so cannot post pics yet, but if he ever gives it back to me..:(, i will post

I bought some Uncle Mikes grips like the ones that came on the later M66s not long ago off of the S&W website. They are real comfy IMO. They are just like the ones in DUNTOV's pictures.

Congratulations on a fine revolver. I love my 66 no dash. I currently have Pachmayer compact grips on it and carry it mostly in a Don Hume JIT holster.
