DrDremel,
Take it to Magna-Port. Your only a few feet away from them.
They do great work.

Started out for me as a plain, relatively tired 4" 581. Mark shortened the barrel to 3", recrowned (what beautiful work! my god), beveled the cylinder edges, created the new front sight (error on the labeling... its a gold bead front sight, not brass), rounded off the butt from square, gave it a sublime action job, and refinished in deep blue.

WOW, DHart. That's one of the most beautiful S&W's I've ever seen. Makes my heart rate increase.

Thanks for appreciating it. I have quite a few very nice S&W revos, but this one is easily my favorite one. Shoots like driving a new Cadillac... incredibly smooth and sweet!

I'm kind of partial to blued revos, even if the ss models are more practical.

I also have a custom S&W M13 which is just like the little brother to this 581... deep, dark, and beautiful. I have some pics of it somewhere... I'll see if I can dig them up.

OK.. found one... not quite as sexy as the 581, but sweet indeed.

3" S&W revos with fixed sights are my favorites.

DHart: That 581 is what all good 357 Carry guns should aspire to. Great, great piece. Perfect harmony of form and function!!!!!!!!

As always-superlative photos.

Retrieving my thread from DHart's hijack. Gun is back, pics forthcoming.

I had something similar built a while back. Started as a square butt 4", ended up a comp'd 3" barrel round butt. It's a great shooter.

That turned out nice.....I did the same thing to my 4" M-65 (No comp though):

Finally done. Polished and hammer bobbed. I still have not shot it with the new barrel however, so I can't carry it.
