My Nickle 27-2 4 inch

Please tell me you have a Smith you do shoot? I can understand the unfired one and have a long tube 27-2 unfired other than the factory.

32 years and only 24 rounds - not like it's unfired.

Might be time for some form of Smith intervention.

Oh did I mention I'm totally jealous? Would love to have a 4" Nickel 27-2.

I looked for one like that about 9 years ago. Passed on one at $450. Passed on one at $425. Finally passed on one at $385 before deciding I guess I really wasn't all that hot to have one after all.

4" nickel model 27-2's deserve to carried and shot not tucked away in the corner of a gun safe.

I have a super clean nickel 4 inch 27-2 that has been shot a little and I would shoot it but I have a 3.5 inch that has someones name engraved on the frame on it under the grips and that one is my short barrel shooter 27-2.

Here's my nickel 27-2 4 inch

That's a damned difficult gun to find.

I've run up on many 4" -3's and surprisingly, most were nickel, but 4" -2's in nickel don't surface every day.

Nice gun to have. Regardless if you choose to shoot it, I hope that you preserve it and treat it well....

I had one, traded it for a IBM M1 Carbine. I just didn't like the .357 in that big a frame. And it was a 27-2 with an unpinned barrel...

Thanks for all the comments. Could anyone tell me the born date and suggest a value...I realize these are hard to find...One of the reasons I kept this one close to NIB. My blued 27-2 4ers" are NIB...

I shoot my other 4" nickle and also a 6"

My Dad bought 2 each of all my 27-2's in 79 or 80...He kept one of each and gave me one of each...I inherited his when he passed away along with a lot of other Smiths dating back to 1880

snaquebite, the serial number indicates it was shipped in 1980, according to SCofS&W. Value, tough call, but I will take a guess, and that is all it is, $675 to $800 depending on condition, box, tools, etc. Just an opinion. Here is my M27-2 from 1980.

Thanks JC...that seems to be aligned with other27-2s of the same time frame. I was thinking that the rarity of the 4 inchers being offered might bring the price up...You can't find them for sale anywhere...

3.5's and other barrel lengths yes...but not 4"

I've got one just like it. It never gets shot because I have a well used 3.5" pre-27 that gets shot regularly.

Clang444...when did you acquire yours and what was the cost, if you don't mind me asking?

Just a comment but i recently sold a Blued 4"
for 800 so i would guess your Nickle could
command at least that much.

Thanks Chuck....Thinking about letting it go...I've got 5 others.. Wanting to build a new AR

Not a problem and Thank You for your service.
Mine was like new no box or tools etc....
Hardly a turn line. Here's a pix.
