I am wondering if anyone can help me with information on the two k-22's I have. Both have 6 inch tubes. The first one (sn K 268xx) has mother of pearl grips & the frame is marked only with Made in U.S.A. It is a 5 screw piece. The second one (sn K 340xx) has walnut grips serial numbered to the gun. It is marked with Made in U.S.A., marcas registradas, smith & wesson, springfield, mass. It is also a 5 screw piece. When were these made & how far apart were they in production? I'd post pictures but I just can't seem to figure it out. The faq is about as clear as mud to me. The condition of both is in the upper 90%, they both look near new to me. I sure would like to know more about these two.

Thank you,

skid

Welcome to the forum. Those are both postwar K-22 Masterpieces that the factory probably shipped a few months apart in 1948. That was the year in which the company changed from the single line address block ("Made in U.S.A.") to the four-line block, so it is completely normal for two guns made about the same time to have different address block stampings.

A lot of people here, including me, think that the K-22 revolvers S&W made in the 1930s, late 1940s, and 1950s are about the coolest and best .22 revolvers anybody ever made. Those who appreciate them often have more than one, if we can find and afford them.

You didn't ask, but most postwar K-22s in high-90s condition have been selling in the $500-600 range over the last year, higher if they have boxes and papers. They are definitely in demand, and you are fortunate to have two that sound as though they are in great condition.

We'd love to see photos if you can get that worked out. Her's a link to an explanation that involves a Photobucket account.

There is another way that doesn't require you to deal with Photobucket. In the message box where you compose posts for this forum, look down in the "additional options" section. There is "Manage Attachments" button there that will let you find a photo on your computer hard drive and upload it with your post.

Skid, nice revolvers! They live up to their advance billing. Do you shoot them?

The MOP stocks have the prewar stock configuration, but that does not necessarily mean that they are of prewar manufacture. Somebody here who knows more about flashy stocks than I do may be able to address that question for you.

If you are using Photobucket, multiple images are easy. Just copy and paste the first link with the tags into your post, skip a line, then copy and paste the link to the next image (again using the IMG tags). This works best if you have two different windows open at the same time (or two different tabs in Firefox or the latest version of IE), one for the forum post and one for your Photobucket album.

Photobucket also lets you upload larger versions of your pictures than the ones you ended up with. If you pick a size that is at least 640 x 480 and try again, you'll be pleased with the results you see here.

Very nice k22s, skid! For reference purposes, K305xx was shipped in June of 1948.

Thanks for the post,

Jerry
