My reloading sanctuary will hopefully be finished this weekend!

Kind-of!!!!

The original "design" was to have the micro switch pointed up with the white LED on the closed loop and ride the primer follower until it fell below the roller and opened the switch to turn on the red LED (open loop).

Turns out there was too much tension and travel in the snap switch for the weight of the primer follower rod and I couldn't find a low tension spring switch (weird because years ago it was just the opposite). I had to either wait for an on-line delivery or rethink things. Turns out the primer follower seems to work a bit better with some additional weight anyway so I whipped out my Rube Goldberg handbook and grabbed the closet weights I had :) A quick trip to the drill press and voila. I'm pretty happy with it, just need to think of something I have on-hand to dress up the micro switch assembly.

There is another wire reserved for a similar setup on the powder cop. The LEDs have more colors I can buy :)

PS - For those of you considering this, these LEDs come in a 2x2 configuration as well as the 3x1 that I used for a dollar or more so. I bought both but decided the 3x1 fit the press best without even opening the 2x2's.

I like it! My primer alarm is the factory unit from Dillon and it is battery powered. And it has the most annoying buzzer I have ever heard. And I worry that if the battery runs down, I don't hear it go off, and before you know it I'm making dummies. Very well thought out accessory that anyone can make. Kudos!

This one's been simmering in your brainpan for awhile, eh? ;)

I made a visual primer alarm... another nice thing about the Hornady is it primes on the up stroke and you can feel if a primer does not seat

Just saw this thread....congrats. I like your setup. You were very wise to allocate more sq. footage to your wife than yourself. I did the same thing for my quilting bride, and it keeps the peace.

You've probably already thought of this, but I presume you have a note on your reloading press: "Is the TV off?!" A friend of mine learned the hard way that TV watching and cartridge loading make a bad combination!

I didn't see any fire extinguishers in any of those great looking rooms. Must have been near the doors.

I live in a house with no basement. If I had one it would have been an ideal place to set up my stuff. I was forced to use 1/2 of my garage where I put up some pre-made wall and base cabinets and use a pre-fab 8 foot formica counter top as a work surface. All of this does double duty both for reloading and woodworking. My biggest problem is that I can't work at all during summer months because temps get into triple digits. I bring all my flammable stuff into the house for the summer and then do all my woodworking and reloading when the weather changes and gets bearable. I tend to load way more than I need so it lasts through the summer months. My setup would probably come in a distant last place compared to some of what I've seen here. BUT, it works for me and it's all I need. One thing I've found that I ALWAYS need is more guns.

No basements here either. That room is over the detached garage and that garage is my woodshop!
