My Ruger .22 made it to "This old Gun" in the Rifleman

I have the similar model purchased by my uncle in the mid to late 50's. (1956, I think) Carried for years through the woods behind my boyhood home.... lost and later recovered at least once by me. I think he purchased the optional wood grip panels later. Still have the black plastic ones. A little worn now, but not worn out.

I believe he paid around $50 for this "priceless" family heirloom.

I've got 2 old Single 6s. One I got NIB in 1964, for which I still
have box/docs. This one has walnut burl grips from factory. The
other one is a Flatgate that I got on a trade about the same time.
My best friend didn't have a good 22 pistol so I traded it to him.
Over a period of 40yrs that Ruger was traded back and forth between us a dozen times. It got to be a family joke, like the old
dog that always came home. My buddy passed and I have the
gun...not for sale. I might add he was the guy that got me to
shoot a K22 NIB that I had gotten on a trade. I wasn't going to
shoot it because I didn't like DA revolvers. Was in the trade pile.
That day we both saw the light and went S&W after shooting
the K22.
