Something about this Ruger No. 1 RSI reminds me of a 27-2:

Edit:

Here is the 27-2 I was thinking of. Sadly, in a moment of folly, I let it leave the fold.

The Ruger No. 1 is a great rifle. I have one in 25/06 and used to have one in .223. The .223 was disgustingly accurate. When I got it the only loose scope that I had was an old Weaver K6 which isn't a bad scope but that little rifle deserved a better one. I could shoot groups under one inch at a hundred yards with GI ball all day. Number one son talked me out of it a few years ago but he ain't getting the 25/06 until after I'm planted.

I know what you mean. Blue steel, wood, all business.

There's a Number 1 in .45/70 that's been on my mind at a local shop. I've never owned one, may have to give it a try.

I have sworn off rifles, but I've always admired that exact rifle. I have a great Mike Venturino article about your rifle but in 7mm. That's a very classy piece of machinery. I like the European sling swivel out front.

Both are definitely classics!

I wanted a .45-70 #1 but it has the same light 22" barrel as the #3 did. Bought a #1H Tropical .458 instead. Absolutely beautiful wood! You will absolutely love the .45-70 if you buy it.

Well,I guess I'm just being argumentative today, but using that analogy and deductive reasoning, then this should also remind you of a 27-2. It's blue steel, wood ,all business AND a classic. :D

Biggest difference I see is that the AK is a classic because it works and is indestructible due to being built with extremely loose tolerances and stamped parts.

The 27-2 is a classic because it works and is indestructible due to being built like a fine watch, with machined and fitted parts, by craftsmen.

If I were engaged in house-to-house combat in Afghanistan I'd take the Kalashnikov over the 27. But I'm not, so I know which classic I covet.

Don't want to be argumentative, though...;)
