with APEX spring and trigger, Galloway Guide Rod and wide body take down, and TRUGLO sights.CAM00170.jpg

CAM00177.jpg,
Also added skateboard grip tape. Found you can get a "pistol sheet" from the local skate park for 50 cents. Sure beats $6.00 for a skateboard size sheet that won't all get used.

Comments welcome.

I guess I just like the way S&W built my gun.No problems and never a ftf.If It ain't broken don't fix it.Just my opinion.

I've shot it with everything but the new sights. Love it.
Plan on going to the range this week to try out the sights.

What about the wider take down lever. I've considered it but worry it might project too far outside the body. And does it really help?

I used the Brite Site Fiber Optic - M&P
TRUGLO

The take down doesn't stick out that much more, but it is helpful when field striping.

@jppezz what can I say I'm the type of guy that looks at aftermarket parts before I get something I want what I have to e one of a kind.

I noticed that the galowAy have different tensions on the springs for sale. What is the optimal choice for that if I already have modified the trigger spring to 5 lb??? I want to change the guide slide and the guide spring

I used the 22lb one in my .40 i also shoot 180gr not 165. The recomend 20-22 for 40 and 18-20 for 9 depending on the loads you shoot most

Thanks for reply I got the guide rod for now and will try it with the regular stock spring and then may be get a 22lb spring.thanks

It's not too wide. The Glock take down lever is exactly the same. Works great and can be found cheaper than the one at Galloway, plus Galloway goes overboard on their shipping costs IMO.

The thing I like about the Galloway lever is that it's tapered...the bottom is wider than the top, and that makes it a better grip for me, since you pull down on the lever.

I contacted Galloway and asked them about their shipping rates...this has been a while back, but at the time they charged $12 for the lever and $6.95 to ship it. Since it's just a small light piece, I asked them if they could just mail it 1st Class, and they said no. I went on Amazon and found Galloway selling them for $15 and free shipping, so I bought one that way.

I got the 20# for mine. I shoot a little of both but plan on changing to 180gr HP after I finish up what 165gr I still have. I did experience reduced recoil jump noticeably over a well broke in stock 17# spring. I may purchase the 22# rod and spring as well and see which one I like best. :) I'm still wrestling with the Apex trigger and spring kit though since it is my EDC firearm.

mine is my EDC. sd40ve. i put apex spring kit in it. galloway rod. it is less snappy now with the new rod and allows easier target re-acquisition.

love the lighter trigger pull. no worries about a ND at all.

Sounds like I'm going to go with the kit. I haven't found anybody on here that has had a problem with drop fires after installing the kit. I have a friend at work that had one and bumped it on his picnic table and it went off. That was my main concern with installing the trigger and spring kit. I'll probably order the 22# rod as well. Thanks for all the input.

I wish you'd ask your friend for some more details about exactly how this happened, and to confirm that it was a SDVE. Unless he had his finger on the trigger, it's hard to imagine how that happened...unless maybe he had the slide locked open, knocked the slide release off, and there was a slam fire, which would involve the striker sticking in the forward position.

I'm no expert, to be sure, but it's hard (for me, anyway) to imagine how bumping a SDVE on a picnic table could make it fire.
