FTE nightmare, I mean I can't get through a magazine without at least one hangup. Going to try some Blazer Brass through it tomorrow, I had ran some before with no problem when i first got it, Ill see if its the ammo or what.

I have always found Federal ammo to have a lighter recoil impulse than other ammo I've used.

I'll bet it will run better with different brands of ammo, but, it should run on everything!

was it the 124 grain?

It was the 9mm 115grain HI SHOK jacketed hollow point. I'll post my results from tomorrows plinking. FMJ Blazer Brass 115 grain. I have some Federal HST 124 grain on order, but I don't know when it will arrive.

250 rds. I got the Shield 02/11/14

locolobo,

I just purchased a shield 9mm and have yet to fire it given the cold weather in my area. One of my favorite 9mm jhp rounds is the federal classic 115 gr jhp also called the 9BP. It is usually a great feeder, and in my experience if a pistol feeds ball it will generally feed the federal classic.

Sometimes a pistol will need a bit of break in, but at 250 rounds, if it is going to feed consistently, it should be feeding consistently or at least vastly improved.

You may need to send to Smith. I understand they will provide a mailer, which takes a lot of the pain out of the experience.

Good luck I will post my experience when I get out to the range, which may be a few weeks the way the weather is looking.

davemercer I agree, I look forward to hear if yours feeds the 9BP. I really do won't this gun to work out, it has a good feel and fits me perfect. I had a 380 Bodyguard that function perfectly, but I just never could warm up to the weapon. jmo

Sorry to hear of your problem with the Shield. I would contact S&W and send it in for R & R. I recently bought a new Shield and have put 500 rounds through it of various brands of ammunition and have had zero issues. Maybe I'm just lucky - knock on wood.
I hope all goes well with the S&W service - they are usually pretty good. My Shield runs like a top - yours should too.

I had some problems with my new Shield with FTE as well, and posted about them after my first two range trips. I had cleaned and lubed it as instructed before taking it to the range and didn't shoot it out of the box. Thinking insufficient lubrication might be the problem, I improved my lubrication process after watching many videos--I haven't had an FTE problem after the first 50 rounds of Georgia Arms 124 gr(now about 250). I also found the recoil spring very stiff when compared to my Glock 19 and thought that may have made a difference. I have noticed that it has loosened up, but can't say if there is a cause and effect relationship with the lack of FTEs. Others have said that the pistol has to be broken in and of course choice of ammo is the culprit. I have ordered some different types of ammo to determine if that makes a difference (as has been reported) and will report back. Love the gun more each time I take it range.

Well guys I just got back from running 50 rds of 115 grain fmj Blazer Brass with 50 rds of the Federal 115 grain HI SHOK magazines mixed in until done. Number of FTE with the Blazer Brass was zero and the number of FTE with the Federal HI SHOK zero. WTH Yesterday I could not get through one mag. without at least one FTE!
Before each session, as usual, I had field strip, cleaned, and oiled the gun per instructions. I am just thinking out loud, but this time while I had it apart I messed around with the ejector spring, turning it and moving it , basically grasping at straws. Who Knows?
