My Tractor

I would hope that this wasn't a deliberate act but the Fire Marshall thinks otherwise. We bought it new a little over a year ago, it had about 30 hours on it as of last Friday. I'm going to look at it a little closer when we get back down there tomorrow. It used to be blue, a New Holland 53 hp. My wife talked me into it because I was killing myself clearing brush.

It hurts just to look at that picture. I cannot understand why someone would do that, but there is no understanding crazy people, that's why they are crazy. I hope they find the arsonist and that insurance covers it. Good luck.

A friend has property on the river. He put up a no trespassing sign and his new tractor was burnt like yours with no insurance. These people have always hunted the river all their lives. No respect. Good idea who did it but how do you prove it?

I certainly hope your insurance will cover it. I have a 2009 Kubota 7040 cab tractor that has had a problem with the wiring harness and I had it replaced what it would do was when I had the bucket on and was putting feed in a creep feeder it started making a grinding noise. What it was was the starter trying to engage with the engine running sometimes it wont start now and I have to open the door and pull up on the wiring harness at the starter.They can have all kinds of problems and do funny things. That is just plain awful. I'm curious...when you say "back down there", where are you talking about? Some other property you own where you don't stay all the time? I guess it doesn't matter, though. Hate that happened to you. My mom had a (polite) word for people who'd do stuff like that...she called them "triflin'"...but if they were really bad, then she'd add a few words..."that triflin' so-and-so".

Hope you can get some insurance money out of this, get you a new tractor.

That is a nice tractor....one of my neighbors had one. Hope they catch who did it. I would set up some hidden game cameras in the area to see who is prowling around on your property.

I have neighbors at three places that will steal anything when you are not around. They stole the handgun out of my truck when I was working about 30 yards away during Christmas week.

At one of the places, they have started vandalizing the property because I won't sell them the lot to the river which is behind their house.

Not unheard of for an occasional tractor to burn because of a nearby lightning strike..or direct hit!

es, close up on right side behind tire, left side of tractor, battery compartment and fuel lines. Had the tractor been sitting for a period of time before the fire?

Thanks for all of the supportive comments, it's really appreciated.

We have it insured, it was almost paid off. Probably be out 3-5k because of price differences unless I can find a new last years model that a dealer would be willing to let go for the same price as this one.

I still don't have the FM's report. He's suspicious of the whole thing simply because of other unexplained fires in the area. I had cameras set up, only got pics off of 2 of them. The others had malfunctioned. We hadn't been down there in a couple of weeks because I was laid up with some hand surgery. If we had gone the previous weekend of the fire I would have caught the cameras that had stopped working. Someone asked where "down there" meant. It's a place about 70 miles from the city. We bought it to get away from here and all the things that go with it.

There were no storms, lightning strike is what I first thought of. That night there were thunderstorms along with a lot of hard rain. Between the intensity of the fire and the hard rain I doubt that if there was any evidence left.

I looked at it a little closer this past weekend. This fire burned hot, the battery completely melted down and ran out on the ground. It had a full tank of diesel so that didn't help. I didn't take anymore pics, just totally disgusted every time I look at it.

Talked to one of my neighbors, she said everyone around there is really nervous. We're lucky this didn't happen in the Summer when everything is all dried out.

I’m sorry to hear about this. I farm and ranch in North East Texas, 10 miles outside Mt.Vernon, TX. We have never had that sort of vandalism here that I can remember. I don’t know what city you live near but I’ll keep an ear out for anybody bragging about torching equipment.
