I got my Ohio CCW in December.

At lunchtime today, I took a 90-minute ride from east of Cleveland to Meadville PA to visit the Crawford County Sheriff's office. I showed them my driver's license and Ohio CCW, filled out a 1-page form and paid $20.

All I need to do now i to wait to receive Pennsylvania documentation.

These 2 fill in a LOT of the reciprocity map.

On Friday morning I'm heading down to the DNR Wildlife District Office in Akron to take a 100-question qualification test as short-cut to the Hunter's Education requirement for getting a Hunting license in Ohio - though I don't intend to hunt, it will avoid trouble if I have to shoot a coyote in the yard in order to protect the pets - I regard both of these mini-trips as a cheap way to simply dodge future hassles.

Friday's trip was a success - I needed to get 80 out of the 100 questions right to qualify for my Hunter's Education Certification - I missed the one about who sanctions tree stands (should have thought about it for a few seconds longer) but with a 99, I still qualified.

The new Hunting Licenses get issued in March - no sense paying for a year for these next 2 weeks.

It's kind of funny the way the law runs on this stuff. Unofficially no one would ever enforce if I were to shoot a coyote attacking a pet but as I said in my original message, this dodges one potential thorn. On the other hand, the strict letter of the law says I need the Hunting License and a deer permit and I need to be wearing orange; I doubt that anyone will find me a scofflaw if I neglect to pick up a deer permit or change clothes before stopping that coyote.

congratulaions on your permits. I have VA and Fl. so I'm good to go in Ohio. I wish Ohio gave out of state permits then I would get one also.
