Several years ago I acquired two J frames thinking that someday I might get to carry one in my pocket

Fast forward to the Summer of 2022 and carry permits are coming to locations throughout New Jersey.

But I qualified on a SIG P365, and when the permit comes in the SIG will be my carry gun

Fortunately in CT we are not (yet) restricted to list a particular gun on permit. Once you have permit you can carry anything you like. I routinely carry j frames in rotation. I practice with them and shoot a full qual course with them. Carry larger revolvers or pistols in cooler weather when cover garments are worn.

The only downside for me on the P365 is the weight. I normally pocket carry and the fully loaded P365 tends to pull my paints down more than a j frame. But the just over double capacity is nice.

I've been carrying a small .38 revolver for over 50 years and recently put several rounds center chest @ 25 yards w/my Model 442 Pro Series. It's light enough for pocket carry.

The weight of a Sig P365 is 17.8 oz while a typical chief's special is 21 ozs. The Sig not only holds double the ammo, it is flatter and smaller. I retired my M60-7 after 25 years of EDC and the P365 is now my choice.

While many who carry a j frame will typically carry at least one reload (prudent of course) the 10+1 capacity of even the smallest magazine capacity is more than double and some who carry a P365 don't even carry a spare mag.

While I have no plans to sell my j frames yet, I no longer edc them.

I can't get myself to (pocket) carry my blued Chiefs Special. I sweat way too much for that. Only way I'll carry it is owb in the cooler weather.

I will just leave this here. My M649-2, loaded and 5 rounds in a speed strip. My Sig P365XL loaded with 12 rounds in the magazine and 1 in the chamber. It also has Night sights and is optics ready if you choose.
As you can see it actually weights less.

Two of my EDC pocket pistols:

I don't think you can hurt the bluing too much, if at all, using a good pocket holster. Obviously, that's no issue with a 649.

That CCP is almost as ugly as my CREED. But man they are shooters. I love them both. Just something about a Walther.
